Wellbeing reminder from Diego 🐴

You don’t have to have everything figured out.
It’s perfectly okay to take the next step without knowing exactly where the whole journey will lead.

What does “wellbeing” actually mean?

Wellbeing isn’t simply being happy all the time.
It’s not having a perfect day, never feeling anxious, or always feeling confident.
And it certainly doesn’t mean that difficult feelings have somehow disappeared.

For us, wellbeing is much more about how safe, connected, regulated and able to cope we feel within ourselves and our environment.
It might be spending ten quiet minutes brushing a horse, or it might be finding the confidence to try something that felt impossible last week.
It might be standing quietly beside a horse without needing to do anything at all. Or it might simply be having an hour where nobody expects anything from you.

That’s one of the things we love about working with horses.
They don’t need us to pretend we’re okay, and they don’t need us to have the right words.
They simply give us an opportunity to slow down, notice what is happening, connect with another living being and practice being present.

Feeling too hot to do a normal session?

Participants have been enjoying sitting in the shade and creating a ‘Miniature Horses For Good’, complete with stables, fields, and grooms!

There are opportunities to learn through play - breeds, colours, field management, feeding, grooming… the list goes on. We were kindly donated this huge set and it’s certainly being put to good use 🐴

⭐️Exciting News!⭐️

Our beautiful Flo has been nominated for the Animal Award in the Make a Difference Awards run by the BBC, and has reached the stage of being one of four finalists.

Yesterday Flo was visited by the BBC team to have her photo taken, and she told them all about the work she does at HFG (her humans helped a bit with that part…)

Flo’s nomination will be announced on BBC Northampton's Breakfast Show soon. We'll let you know when we hear more! Yay 🎉
