While one group of our cadets got caught in heavy downpours yesterday, another group made the most of the nicer weather with a splashing time on the river for our unit boating night! 🚣‍♂️☀️

Aged 9–17 and keen to join the adventure, there is still time to get in touch before our September intake begins. Drop us a message today to find out more!

Today, three of our adult volunteers and six cadets attended the National Air and Space Camp at RAF Syerston!

This major annual RAF Air Cadet event brings together cadets alongside industry-leading professionals in aerospace, space, and cyber. Despite some very wet 🌧️ and slightly chilly weather (not a problem we expected given our recent weather!), our cadets had a wonderful time discussing future career pathways with prospective employers. Meanwhile, our volunteers discussed STEM ideas and development with activity providers and volunteers from other units. To top it all off, everyone enjoyed the static aircraft displays and a brilliant air show! ✈️

Ahoy, landlubbers! ⚓

✨Gather ’round and hear tell of our brave TS Diamond’s Pollywogs, who took part in the time-honoured Crossing the Line Ceremony! 🌊🔱

Our intrepid cadets faced fun trials including a knot tieing challenge and cannonball clearance. In true naval fashion—and ever mindful of the hosepipe ban—they filled Queen Amphitrite’s bath with play-balls instead of water! Having passed every challenge, they gained the royal approval of King Neptune himself and were rewarded with delicious frozen treats from Angs Ices! 🍦🍨

A most hearty huzzah and thank you to our splendid volunteers for organising the evening and embracing their characters so brilliantly! 🙌🎭

Huzzah to our newly inducted Shellbacks! ⛵

At the weekend, a group of cadets had a splashing time completing a 5-mile trip along the River Nene! 🛶
The river trip is an important part of earning their PaddleUK Explore qualification.
A massive thank you to the volunteers who supported the trip and made it possible! 🙌

Our cadets had a great time out on the water this Thursday. 🚣‍♀️🚣‍♂️

Boating is a lot of fun, and it helps young people build some important life skills:

🦺 Water Safety – Learning how to stay safe and look out for each other.

🤝 Teamwork & Leadership – Working together and guiding others.

💪 Resilience & Confidence – Keeping going, believing in yourself, and trying new things.

Want to join the crew? We are recruiting our next intake of Junior Cadets (9–11 year olds) ready to join the adventure in September.

We are always looking for volunteers (18+) to join us, share their skills, passion, and knowledge, and make a positive difference to young people. (Subject to application and completion of induction programme)

We kicked off Friday by presenting well-deserved promotions to the cadets who missed Divisions Night. 👏

Congratulations to PO Akehurst, who was presented with her First Aid badge after achieving her Basic First Aid Instructor qualification! 👏

During the evening, the cadets rolled up their sleeves to tidy and w**d outside the unit, followed by a litter pick along our residential street. 🌱🚮

BZ everyone for your hard work, achievements and dedication to our community! 👏
