Come across to our Facebook group called ‘Eco Essex’ and look for the green, pinned post to share (and take advantage of discount codes and friend referral codes for eco / ethical / sustainable companies that you want to try or encourage others to try!

Whether it’s your favourite toilet roll company, your ethical bank or green energy provider-between is we can help our community to save a few quid whilst gaining yourselves.

Any financial gain from Eco Essex admin will go back into the running of Eco Essex.

Last year we were nominated and won the Environmental Category at BBC Essex 2025 Make a Difference Award for our Eco Essex Rehome Reuse Repurpose facebook group, thanks to several of our kind members nominating us and to Lydia Bright for the vote.

These awards are now open for 2026 and we encourage you to vote for your favourite community groups (there are several different categories, not just environmental related)

Eco School Club ideas!

To all the schools out there - here we have our Eco Essex Education Lead giving some ideas such as making seed bombs and reusing / recycling items to do in the eco club.

New year resources -did you know we have posters for businesses?

Such as this one, about offering free boxes for the local community to take off your hands (reducing storage for you and recycling costs potentially).

This then prevents the public needing to buy new boxes when they could reuse perfectly good boxes for storing their things, kids' play, or moving house for example!

Here is our new year reminder of resources that we have to help our community on their eco journey.

This is a poster / flyer that we made with the help of our community to design it.

We don't encourage flier dropping through individual doors, but this flyer was designed for our members to download / print and put in public places such as village hall noticeboards, church boards, group chats with friends and whatever public places you think it could be put.

You are responsible for gaining permission / checking the suitability of the poster positioning.

So download and print and then share a picture of it in position so we can see it in action!

As we enter a new year, it's a perfect time to re-introduce Eco Essex, who we are and what we do.

Founded in 2018 by 2 mums in Essex, we wanted to have a space for us to discuss eco swaps we could make, discuss environmental issues and share ideas on how to live more inline with our values of wanting to bring up our family's without having such a big impact on the planet.

As Eco Essex evolved, we saw that there was a niche for support for small, local businesses as well as schools needing support too. We have 4 members to our non-profit community constitution and even more volunteers who support us with moderating our rehoming facebook group.

We therefore, have a website (www.ecoessex.com) where there are various resources for our community whether you run a small business, are a teacher in a school, a parent helping at PTA or an individual wanting to live more inline with what feels right for you and your family. So we recommend checking our website and let us know what other resources you would like if there is a gap in our provisions!

As a sister group to Eco Essex, we have our very popular Eco Essex Rehome, Reuse, Repurpose group designed to allow you a space to rehome random junk. We encourage you still to use your local charity shops for the good quality items, but for electricals that often aren't accepted anymore by them and items that may need repairing or upcycling, we encourage you to use our group to reduce landfill waste.

So wherever you are on your eco journey, we hope that we can help you, and if not, maybe you can help others on their journey.
