🤝✨ Bringing youth organisations together at St Mark’s Hall

Yesterday, The Design Cabin Community C.I.C had the pleasure of hosting the Essex Youth Service Youth Worker Forum at St Mark’s Hall.

It was brilliant to welcome organisations offering opportunities for young people across Rochford District and Canvey Island, coming together to share what’s available, map local provision, and explore more collaborative ways of working.

These conversations are so important. When organisations understand what each other are doing, we can better signpost young people, avoid duplication, spot gaps, and create stronger pathways of support across our communities.

A tradition of these sessions is that the host leads the icebreaker activity, so ours focused on personal goals for the next six months.

It was a lovely way to pause, reflect and think not just about the work we do, but the people behind that work too.

📱✨ Digital Skills Courses Start This Friday at St Mark’s Hall!

Following a brilliant final Digi Drop-In session at St Mark’s Hall, we’re really pleased to share that ACL Essex are now bringing two brand-new digital skills courses to Rochford, starting this Friday, 5th June.

These friendly, practical short courses are perfect for adults who want to feel more confident using computers, desktop technology and Microsoft programmes at a comfortable pace.

🌟 Celebrating 6 Inspiring Years of The Design Cabin Group– Rochford Rising!

What an incredible honour to join Edmunds, Founder and Director of The Design Cabin Group, in celebrating the organisation’s 6th business anniversary here in Rochford last Friday!

As a local founder and director of Maria Moon Music CIC, I was truly inspired by the creative energy that filled the room.

We were graced with the presence of friends, supporters, and the local community who’ve been part of this journey — their warmth and commitment made this landmark celebration even more meaningful.
It was wonderful to share this moment with James! Well done!

✨ Because only when we work together can we truly achieve lasting impact.

🎉 Today, The Design Cabin Community C.I.C turns 6! 🎉

Six years of community, creativity, local enterprise, learning, events, experiments, challenges, and a lot of “let’s just make it happen” moments.

Over the past six years, we’ve been proud to deliver projects and spaces that bring people together, support local talent, and create opportunities across our communities.

✨ Through our interim operation of The Freight House, we welcomed over 3,714 visitors, delivered 39 events, and supported 25+ local businesses.

🛍️ Through Make Your Market, we’ve supported over 120 small businesses, helping local makers, traders and performers find new opportunities to grow.

🌟 Through Big Up Southend, we’ve created over 485 trading opportunities, giving small businesses a platform in the heart of Southend.

🏡 Through St Mark’s Hall, we’ve supported thousands of people through daily food drop-ins, support groups, community activities, private celebrations, parties and local services.

Across our wider work, we’ve also supported public meetings and community conversations, including local hustings and Future of Rochford events, helping create space for local voices to be heard.

We’ve been proud to work with a wide range of event clients, from community groups and local organisations to names including Safe Sport International and Boardmasters Festival.

Along the way, our work has received multiple award wins and nominations, recognition we’re incredibly grateful for, but which ultimately reflects the people, partners, traders, volunteers and communities who make this work possible.

None of this happens in isolation. It happens because of the people who show up, volunteer, trade, perform, book spaces, attend events, partner with us, fund projects, share posts, give feedback and believe in what community-led spaces can do.

Thank you to everyone who has been part of the journey so far.

Here’s to the next six years of bringing people together, creating opportunities, and making memories that last. 💛
