The countdown is officially on for the return of the wonderful Ripon Theatre Festival which is running from 5th – 12th July.

Supported by our team here at Visit Ripon & Ripon BID, this year’s festival marks a special milestone as Ripon Theatre Festival celebrates five years of bringing creativity, laughter and unforgettable performances to our city.

Over eight days and nights, Ripon will come alive with more than 100 events taking place across streets, open spaces, cafés, shops and venues throughout the city. Visitors can enjoy everything from street entertainment and walkabout characters to open-air theatre, storytelling, puppet shows, music and pop-up performances, with activities for all ages to discover.

Many events are free or Pay What You Can, making it the perfect opportunity to experience the vibrant atmosphere of the festival and explore everything Ripon has to offer this summer.

🎵 Live music fans head to The Magdalens Ripon Saturday 30th May as The Catkins take to the stage from 8pm. Expect a great evening of live music, good atmosphere and plenty of tunes to enjoy in one of Ripon’s popular venues.

💚Wildlife lovers can join the volunteer team Fountains Abbey & Studley Royal, National Trust on Saturday 30 May for a guided deer park walk. Visitors will have the chance to spot Red, Sika and Fallow Deer while learning more about the historic herd and the beautiful parkland they call home. There’s still time to take part in Ripon’s Catch the Spirit Trail before it finishes tomorrow! (Thursday 28th May).

Families and visitors are invited to explore the city, spot all 12 Women’s T20 World Cup nations hidden around Ripon and complete the trail for the chance to win prizes. Trail maps are available from Ripon Cricket Club, the Ripon BID offices on Westgate and Specsavers.

The trail concludes on Thursday 28th May at Ripon Cricket Club, where completed forms can be returned between 4pm and 9.30pm to claim a prize and be entered into a draw to win four tickets to a Women’s T20 World Cup match at Headingley.
Visitors can also enjoy the free Catch the Spirit! Picnic on the Pitch event on Thursday evening, with cricket-themed activities, entertainment and family fun for all ages.

Make the most of the summer sunshine with a day at Ripon Races this Thursday (28th May) ☀️🏇

Visitors can enjoy an affordable afternoon of racing and family fun at Yorkshire’s Garden Racecourse, with circus skills, fire juggling performances, barrel train rides, arts and crafts plus plenty more entertainment throughout the day.

Children under 18 go FREE with a paying adult and all children’s activities are completely FREE, making it a fantastic family day out during the half term holidays.

Looking for something to keep the family entertained this half term? Ripon Museums have a week full of history, storytelling and hands-on fun waiting to be discovered.

Families can follow the Pig On the Loose! walking story at Ripon Workhouse Museum & Garden, meet a Victorian policeman at Ripon Prison & Police Museum, and enjoy daily courthouse games, creative crafts and interactive activities throughout the week.

Half term activities run until the 31st of May and all activities are included with an annual pass!
