Chess Club meets every Wednesday at The Portly Pig, offering a relaxed and welcoming evening for anyone who enjoys the game. Whether you're a regular player, a complete beginner or just fancy trying something new, you'll be made to feel right at home.

Come along between 7pm and 9.45pm, meet new people, enjoy some friendly competition and put your strategic thinking to the test. If you're feeling confident, there's also a tournament on the last Wednesday of every month.

Karma on Kirkgate has teamed up with The Old Deanery to host this year's free International Yoga Day celebrations on 20th June. The exciting event will feature yoga sessions, meditation, sound baths, wellness talks and more - creating a day of relaxation and wellbeing for all ages and abilities.

Delve into the intrigue, ambition and drama of the Tudor age during Tudor Month at Ripon Cathedral running throughout June.

A series of expert-led talks will explore the life and legacy of Anne Boleyn, the plots and conspiracies of Elizabethan England, and Henry VIII’s break with Rome that changed the course of English history. Alongside the talks, visitors can discover the cathedral’s remarkable collection of Tudor portraits, enjoy guided Tudor tours, and explore a special exhibition of photographs and Tudor costumes.

Tickets for talks, tours and the Tudor workshop are available via the Ripon Cathedral website. Entry to the cathedral and exhibition is by donation.

The tremendous Tractor Fest returns to Newby Hall & Gardens this weekend on Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th June.

Newby Hall & Gardens will once again become home to Europe's largest tractor and vintage engine show including over an impressive 1,300 tractors. Visitors can enjoy a fabulous day out with food, drink, entertainment and some of the finest vintage machinery displays in the country.

Admission also includes access to Newby Hall's award-winning gardens, adventure playground, dolls house exhibition and teddy bear exhibition, making it a great day out for all the family.

The countdown is officially on for the return of the wonderful Ripon Theatre Festival which is running from 5th – 12th July.

Supported by our team here at Visit Ripon & Ripon BID, this year’s festival marks a special milestone as Ripon Theatre Festival celebrates five years of bringing creativity, laughter and unforgettable performances to our city.

Over eight days and nights, Ripon will come alive with more than 100 events taking place across streets, open spaces, cafés, shops and venues throughout the city. Visitors can enjoy everything from street entertainment and walkabout characters to open-air theatre, storytelling, puppet shows, music and pop-up performances, with activities for all ages to discover.

Many events are free or Pay What You Can, making it the perfect opportunity to experience the vibrant atmosphere of the festival and explore everything Ripon has to offer this summer.
