What a delight it was to be able to attend and help fund another author visit at one of our member schools. This time it was Boroughbridge Primary School who welcomed Catherine Jacob talking about her Betsy Buglove and Doctor Fairytale books. Catherine concentrated on Betsy Buglove and the Lucky Ladybirds this time, reading the book and then taking the children outside to collect items needed to make their own bug hotel. It was wonderful to see the enthusiasm from the children, sessions covered every year group and it was clear how an author visit can inspire a love of reading. We had a lovely time recently at Leyburn Primary School reading the 4 shortlisted picture books for The Children's Book Award. This is the only national award voted for entirely by children The Federation of Children's Book Groups

We were delighted to help organise and fund a visit by author, Sarah Day, to Ripon Grammar School on World Book Day. Sarah spoke to Year 8 about her book, Miss Influential, which explores the very real issues that young people face when engaging with social media. The students asked some brilliant questions and gave thoughtful and interesting answers when discussing the pros and cons of social media. The Federation of Children's Book Groups
