It's not just carriages that have recently been painted!

Our two grain hopper wagons are the centre of attention by a group of volunteers at Swanwick, B*H 7821 being the first of the two to receive it's new coat of paint

These wagons spent their later lives at Bass Charringtons Brewery in Burton on Trent in their eye catching red livery. Great job!

Here's a before and after of centre car M59609 😍

M59609 will be in service for our Fireworks night event next weekend, Friday 6th and Saturday 7th November! 🎆🎇

28/10/2026

Our Class 127 centre car M59609 has had a facelift!

The centre car was starting to look very tired and decision taken to get the carriage into the workshop before it got worse. The work has taken just 2 months with volunteers spending hundreds of hours getting the vehicle ready for our fireworks night next week 🎆🎇

The class 115 centre car 59659 which is in its faded blue livery has taken its place inside the shed for similar treatment! 🚂

The MRT DMU group are always looking for new volunteers to help on the Class 114 & 127 DMUs here at Butterley. If you're interested in helping, please send us a message ⌨️
