🌟 HOLY TRINITY COMMUNITY CAFÉ RHYL – WEEKLY ROUND-UP 🌟
Well… what a week! ❤️
We started Monday with our fabulous FREE Family Fun Day, and what an amazing day it turned out to be.
Paula arrived at the café at 7am and, would you believe it… it was raining! ☔ After all those weeks of lovely weather without a drop of rain, the one day we desperately wanted it to stay dry, we woke up to the wet stuff coming down!
At 7.15am, the festival toilet arrived and, almost as if somebody had flicked a switch, the rain stopped! From that moment on, the grounds of Holy Trinity began to come alive.
Food arrived, the BBQs appeared, agencies began setting up their gazebos, tables were sorted, and boxes of brand-new toys, games and activities were opened ready for the day ahead.
Then came the planetarium! 🌌 It was carefully erected inside the vestry and… phew! It just about fitted! 😂
A wonderful train set arrived too and was set up ready for children and grown-ups alike to enjoy.
And then… the people started arriving. ❤️
Our first entertainment of the day was Mohoneys Music Group, who came along, set themselves up and soon Holy Trinity was filled with music. 🎶
Before long, the grounds were full of people — and the best part was that people didn’t just pop in… they stayed.
The Fire and Rescue Service arrived with their fire engine, which caused great excitement, especially with the children. 🚒 They had an absolute whale of a time!
The BBQs were lit, the queues began to form and the smell of food filled the grounds. 🌭🍔
Children bounced away on the bouncy castle, families enjoyed the games and activities, and later Coastal Harmonies treated us to another wonderful musical performance inside the church. 🎵
Meanwhile, our planetarium was busy throughout the day and welcomed an incredible 100 people through its doors! 🌍✨
One particularly lovely moment came when members of the Fire and Rescue Service asked if they could ring the church bells to celebrate the day. 🔔
It was wonderful hearing the bells ringing out across Rhyl with such joy and celebration. It really did feel like Holy Trinity was alive with people, laughter and community.
For our very first Family Fun Day, we feel incredibly proud of how it went.
Of course, there will always be things we can learn and improve upon, and we would genuinely love to hear from those who came along.
What did you enjoy most?
What worked well?
And what would you love to see us include if we do it all again next year?
Please let us know. Your ideas really do matter to us. ❤️
Most of all, we hope everyone who joined us enjoyed the day and felt welcomed.
Then came Tuesday…
Well, after Monday, I think it is fair to say we were all exhausted! 😂
So Tuesday at the café was a much gentler affair. There were plenty of hot drinks, plenty of cake, plenty of conversation and a chance for everyone — including the volunteers — to recover!
But we did manage one little bit of excitement…
🥔 It was potato harvest day! 🥔
We emptied out the planters where we had been growing our potatoes and were delighted to discover that our little crop had produced 45 potatoes!
We also found a few tiny potatoes, so rather than waste them, we have tucked them back into the soil to see whether they might carry on growing.
Now we will be watching our planters with interest to see what happens next! 🌱🥔
There was something really lovely about growing our own food right here at Holy Trinity and then all gathering around to see what had been hiding underneath the soil.
Sometimes, after all the excitement, a quiet day sitting together over a cuppa is exactly what is needed. ☕🍰
And that is what Holy Trinity Community Café is all about.
Some weeks are filled with hundreds of people, music, fire engines, bouncy castles and planetariums…
Other days are about harvesting 45 potatoes, sitting around a table, having a brew and enjoying each other’s company.
There is room for both at Holy Trinity. ❤️
Thank you to every single person who helped make Monday possible — those who planned, set up, cooked, performed, brought activities, supported us, volunteered, packed away and, of course, everyone who simply came through our gates and joined in.
You helped make our first Family Fun Day something very special.
