Work has started to install the electricity supply in our cabin with trunking and sockets in place ready for solar power. Sincere thanks to Liam, the electrician for his great work and to Callum in Heliaxis for all his help and support.
This work would not have been possible without the funding from Welsh Government and Coalfields Regeneration Trust for which we are truly grateful

Looking forward to this Saturday in Ponty Park

Beautiful work day up the site again today with much achieved. As always, fantastic work with the horses by Nancy and Rob, Keith busy on the continued compost move, both sides of the cabin varnished outside and Welsh Guards and RRW badges hung for decoration.
As well as being a troop shelter for the volunteers and visitors, the cabin will be an extension of the mental health and support services we currently provide in the community centre and across Veterans groups around the RCT, Merthyr and Bridgend areas, in collaboration with MIND. The installation of the wood burner and scheduled installation of solar power across site this week will be a huge benefit to all service users. Sincere thanks once again to Coalfields Regeneration Trust and Welsh Government for funding the solar power installation and to Callum at Heliaxis who will be supplying and installing the equipment.
We had the pleasure to welcome Laura, Amy and Alex from Llwynypia Community College to the site this morning and very much look forward to collaborating with them and their students from the start of the academic year.

Today, Monday 8th June, marks 44 years since the devastating loss of RFA Sir Galahad at Fitzroy. For our veteran community, this date is a solemn reminder of the immense cost of service and the unbreakable bonds forged in conflict.

On this day in 1982, the Royal Fleet Auxiliary landing ship Sir Galahad was struck by enemy aircraft. This resulted in the largest single incident loss of British life during the Falklands War.

Today, we stand shoulder to shoulder to remember the 48 men, Welsh Guards, RFA Crew and attachments, who lost their lives.

For many of our members and veteran community, the scars of this day 44 years ago, are still deeply felt. We hold the families of the fallen in our thoughts, salute the incredible bravery of everyone involved, including the helicopter crews and medics who worked amongst the chaos. We gather together today, not just to mourn the fallen but to honour the dedication and resilience they showed. Today, we also stand in solidarity with the survivors who carry the weight of that day with them daily.

Our group remains committed to ensuring their legacy endures and that our community continues to support one another.

We will remember them.

82 years ago on 6 June 1944, Allied forces launched the largest amphibious invasion in history. Codenamed Operation Overlord, the campaign successfully established a vital foothold on the French coast, ultimately paving the way for the liberation of Western Europe and the defeat of N**i Germany
We remember the servicemen and women who fought for our freedom and made the ultimate sacrifice
