We’re excited to announce that plans are underway for a family-friendly Halloween afternoon in Treherbert Park!

Working alongside the , local council and local community partners, we’re bringing everyone together for an afternoon of Halloween fun while raising funds towards the Christmas street lights in Treherbert and Tynewydd.

Did somebody say timber pole structures?! 🌲
That's right, the on track guys have been busy learning new skills to build a timber log store using round poles.
This isn't a one off.. join us next tuesday to finish the structure and learn a trade not used often anymore. 🔨🪚
On track, every Tuesday, rain or shine. 10am to 3pm. You may find a new passion?? make new friends, learn new skills, and keep busy.

🌳 From our woodlands, made by our community.

Our Cwm Saerbren Community Timber Mill and On Track volunteering team are turning locally sourced timber into useful, beautiful products — made with care by our volunteers and skilled team here in Treherbert.

From bird boxes and flower planters to picnic benches, outdoor furniture and bespoke creations, we can work with you to create something suited to your space and requirements. Looking for raw timber for your own DIY project? Get in touch with us too — we may be able to help with locally sourced timber for your next creation. 🪵

The journey starts in our local woodlands. Through our On Track volunteering programme, volunteers work alongside skilled team members to help care for paths and woodland spaces, with suitable timber brought back to our Community Timber Mill where it can be given a new purpose. Along the way, volunteers have opportunities to develop practical skills — from woodland work and hand tools through to milling timber and creating finished products.

💚 Choosing locally made supports much more than the finished product. It supports a local social enterprise, creates opportunities for volunteering and skills development, helps us care for our local woodlands and keeps more of the value of our natural resources within our community.

Whether you have an idea for a bespoke product, need something made for your garden or community space, or are looking for raw timber for a DIY project, get in touch and have a chat with us.

Another productive week with the ontrack volunteers. A big thank you to our volunteer Ken who made us some slate signs for our new fully compostable toilets.
Kieron and June worked hard cleaning up the stone wall, While, Alyx, Bailey and Ken worked hard woodworking creating bin holders for the roundhouse. 🪚🌲🗑

Come and join in with us on track, improving the site before we head up into the woods to continue improving the tracks and trails. Every tuesday, 10am-3pm, make new friends, learn new skills, and be a part of improving the community woodland.

🌿 Keen to lend a hand caring for our local landscape?

Join Grow Rhondda at Blaenrhondda Park on Thursday 24th September, 10am–2pm, helping rake freshly cut grass to protect this species-rich habitat for wildflowers, waxcaps and wildlife, including the rare Forester Moth. 🌼🦋

From filling up log stores, to recycled timber raised planters, our on track volunteers have been busy over the past weeks learning new woodworking skills creating products using recycled timber.

Do you have unused skills or wanting to learn new skills? Join our ontrack team as we head back into the woods in the upcoming weeks processing and extracting timber while improving woodland biodiversity. With opportunities to learn woodworking out of the same extracted timber.

We’re incredibly proud to see the work happening here in Treherbert and across the Upper Rhondda recognised at a national level. 💚

🌿 Woodland Therapy Treherbert – Reminder

Just a quick reminder that there will be no Woodland Therapy session at the Old Brewery site (Ty Pren Roundhouse) this Thursday.

In the meantime, we wanted to make you aware of another community wellbeing offer available at Crop Cycle Treherbert . Their Community Day takes place every Wednesday from 10am–2pm, and you are all very welcome to attend for a chance to connect, get involved and spend some time with the community.
