It’s taken us a while to write this status due to the embarrassment…

On Saturday we played a memorial football match for Layton Cole staff vs youth club.

To say it was a shambles would be an understatement.

Jade, Hollie, Megan, Sarah, Gee, Lee, Simon, Sam, Lewis, Ella, Rhi, Jenny, Simon, Sock and Cherry bravely took to the pitch for the staff team… thankfully supported by Erion, Tyler & Riley but…. were absolutely humbled by the youth club side.

Final score: 14–2.

There were moments of skill, moments of confusion, and several moments where staff questioned their fitness choices and life decisions.

But in all seriousness, it was a brilliant day in memory of Layton full of laughter, football, and young people making memories together. Thank you to everyone who played, supported and came along.

The youth club now have unlimited bragging rights until further notice.

After the match, everyone headed back to The Den for a very special moment as we revealed Layton’s memorial bench.

Surrounded by family, friends, staff and young people, we took time to remember Layton together sharing stories, laughter and memories of someone who meant so much to so many.

We also held a balloon release in his memory, creating a really emotional and beautiful moment for everyone there.

There was amazing Jamaican food, time spent together around the memory wall, and space for people to reflect, talk and support one another.

The whole day reminded us how loved Layton is and always will be. Thank you to everybody who came, contributed and helped make the day so special. 💙

A massive thank you to Rlw Roofing for kindly donating the memorial bench. Having a permanent place where people can sit, reflect and remember Layton means more to this community than words can explain. Your kindness and generosity will never be forgotten.

Huge thank you to Bests Jamaican Cuisine who cooked up some amazing food.

The young people are READY for tomorrow’s game against the youth workers… confidence is very high!!

Meanwhile the youth workers are…

-Stretching before training starts👀
-Checking where the deep heat is👀
-Hoping for unlimited rolling subs 👀

Prediction for tomorrow..
Kids 10- 1 Youth Workers(And yes… the youth workers will celebrate that one goal like they’ve won the cup 😂)

Should be a quality game 👏⚽️

🚨⬇️ We’re asking all parents and carers of children and young people with SEND to complete the national SEND reform consultation. This is really important. 🚨⬇️

These proposed changes could directly impact access to specialist settings like our school and Alternative Provision, and will shape how children receive support in schools more widely. There are national concerns around access to specialist
placements, how support is delivered in mainstream settings, and potential changes to EHCP thresholds and funding. It is vital that families help shape what happens next.

Please take a few minutes to complete the consultation here:
https://consult.education.gov.uk/send-strategy-division/send-reform-putting-children-and-young-people-firs-1/consultation/subpage.2026-02-13.0956514520/
If families do not respond, there is a real risk that the voices and experiences of children with SEND will not be properly represented in the final decisions.

Next week, we are running two dedicated sessions with young people from our school and Alternative Provision in partnership with the SEND Co production team at Worcestershire County Council.

We will also be gathering feedback from young people attending our Spectrum clubs so their views can be shared as part of the consultation.

This is a genuine opportunity to influence what comes next. Please do take the time to complete the form and share the link with other families who may want to have their say.
Once you have completed it, drop us a comment to let us know. Let’s try and get as many families as possible feeding back and making their voices heard.

Thank you for your support.

Last week we said goodbye to Sharon, who has been such a big part of Your Ideas.

Sharon has brought so much warmth, dedication, and positivity to the team. Whether it was supporting young people, lifting others up on tough days, or just being someone you could always rely on, she’s made a lasting impact on everyone around her.

We wish you all the very best for whatever comes next, Sharon you’ll always be part of the Your Ideas family 💛

Hope you’re all enjoying the Bank Holiday weekend ☀️

Here’s a little photo dump from the last month across our youth clubs in Matchborough and Woodrow ❤️

We’ve had visits from some amazing animal friends, watched our chicks hatch, celebrated birthdays at our senior club with plenty of “No-secco” 😂, enjoyed the sunshine, cooked together, got creative with art, played games, taken part in sports and made loads of memories along the way.

Sometimes it’s the simple moments that matter most. Having a safe place to laugh, socialise, try new things and just be yourself.

A huge thank you to all of our young people, families and staff team for continuing to make our clubs such positive and welcoming spaces every single week 😊

Another jam-packed week at Your Ideas Alternative Provision 🌟

From swimming sessions to chick races (yes, really 🐥), den building adventures, and getting creative in the kitchen 🍳 — our young people have been busy!

We’ve been out for park runs, getting stuck into egg experiments, and exploring all things science 🧪

Just a “normal” week for us… building confidence, learning new skills, and having loads of fun along the way 💛
