On Sunday 7th June, 1969 (Rossendale) Sqn took part in the annual wing athletics competition. They competed against 21 squadrons throughout Cumbria and Lancashire Wing.
We have always come away with medals but hardly ever with trophies, until this year, where our cadets came away with,
7 Gold
4 Silver
3 Bronze
This was a fantastic achievement for our cadets, but the icing on the cake came when the results were handed out,
Class A 3rd
Class B 1st
Class C 3rd
Class D 1st
Class E 6th with only 2 competing in this category.
The biggest surprise we got was we actually became
Wing Athletics 25/26 Overall Winners.
huge congratulations to all the cadets who took part, even if you didn't come away with medals, because you contributed you helped the squadron win overall by taking part.

COMMUNITY HEROES: Rossendale Squadron Air Cadets Cdt Harry Lord and Cdt Ivy Nuttall together with Community First Responder David Chatburn
Young Rossendale leaders are taking charge of local safety, as the 1969 Squadron Air Cadets team up with Community First Responders to bring a life-saving defibrillator to the heart of Rawtenstall.

From a successful bag-pack that raised hundreds of pounds to an upcoming charity banquet, these dedicated youngsters are proving that community spirit is the best medicine for the Valley.

Friday saw 5 cadets gain their First class badge after completing all their classification booklet, and four cadets passed their PTT package and have flown in a Grob Tutor which earn them their Blue Aviation Wings.

Unfortunately this is the last picture of 1969 Rossendale squadron, the cadets have been locked in the Umbrella escape room, and have contracted the T virus.
Special thanks to our CI Tall Paul for organising this event and making up the escape room, this took him 9 ours to sort out and make the puzzles, only to last 90 minutes on squadron, but the cadets thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Looking forward to the next one.

As our squadron was shut for a few months awaiting electrical checks, we hired out a local community hall at Rakefoot Methodist Church Crawshawbooth where we had 8 EFA awards, 13 Blue Space awards, 13 Blue radio awards and 3 cadets went flying at RAF Leeming.
We are now back at 1969 Rossendale squadron being the 1st in our sector to open, so we decided to make it a fun night doing an escape room, unfortunately the cadets got locked in and got struck down with the contagious T virus, thank you to Tall Paul for organising this and looking forward to the escape room at Inskip Cadet Centre for the Christmas party.

Well done to Cpl Montgomery, Cpl Peel and Cdt Abraham on passing their Bronze Aviation Wings. This course included theory lessons alongside practical work using the flight simulators.
Thank you to the staff at RAF Leeming for all their help.

Today cadets from 1969 (Rossendale) Squadron Air Cadets attended 2 remembrance parades.
In the morning we attended a remembrance parade in Helmshore and the in the afternoon we attended a remembrance parade at Rawtenstall. It was a long day for all the cadets especially those standing on the cenotaph. Once again the cadets did us proud with a full turnout with only 1 cadet, who was gutted he couldn't attend due to illness.
Thanks to all the parents for helping shuttle the cadets to the parades.
