The Jacobite Festival is here. From today until 23 August, sites and attractions across Scotland are opening their doors to explore one of the most dramatic and significant chapters in our history. From battlefields and palace rooms to castle grounds and museum halls.

Whether you're joining a guided tour, a living history event, or simply following a trail at your own pace, there's something for everyone over the next nine days. We hope to see you out there.

Fingask Castle was home to Sir Stuart Threipland, Bonnie Prince Charlie's own physician, and this summer, his descendants open their doors to share family stories, heirlooms, and a taste of lemon posset made from Lady Katherine's 17th-century recipe book, which will be on display in her own handwriting. Meet the Targeman John Stewart in authentic dress and see the 19th-century Threipland Coach. A truly unique and personal afternoon.

Sir Arthur Erskine's Regiment sets up camp in Stanley Hill Park for a weekend of living history, with guided Dunkeld Battlefield tours each day. Re-enactors in period costume walk you through the Battle of Dunkeld, fought just 25 days after the Jacobite victory at Killiecrankie, ending in the destruction of the town and a pivotal Jacobite defeat that helped shape the course of Scottish history. Includes a weapons display.
