Cockenzie & Port Seton Community Gala

Cockenzie & Port Seton Community Gala The Official Cockenzie & Port Seton Community Gala page. Our Gala's a unique community event

We're proud of our fishing heritage and celebrate this during the Gala when kids board decorated fishing boats and make their way from Cockenzie Harbour to Port Seton Harbour while the Fishergirls dance outside the Thorntree Inn on the High Street accompanied by a piper.

House decor this year was AMAZING! So much effort went into all the houses. Thanks to the committee members from Longniddry and Tranent gala who judged them on Saturday morning, it would have been a tough one!

Thanks to the parents who emailed photos over for us to share, the courier also managed to get round some houses on the day for photos so we have shared these If you still have a photo to send please sent it over on Facebook messenger.

Please take a look at the link above, this is organised by Craig and his team who run the youth music arts protect, Craig has been a massive support to the gala the past few years and always supporting young local musicians 🎼🎶

We have had amazing feedback about the band tent! So thank you everyone for welcoming the changes we made a few years ago 🎶🎼

Helping young people build confidence, form bands, learn music and live sound skills, and access lasting creative opportunities.

The Harbours Medical Practice opened their garden yesterday in memory of Jane.

Last year, we introduced the Parent Volunteer of the Year Award. This year, we renamed it the Jane Johnston Memorial Award in recognition of Jane’s contribution to the Gala for many years before she sadly passed.

We are delighted to announce that Kerryann Lees was this year’s recipient.

A few words from Kerryann - ‘ I was shocked to be awarded the Jane Johnston Memorial Volunteer of the Year Award. Also to be the first to receive this lovely award in memory of Jane.

Jane was such a huge part of our Gala and community.’

Another thanks to Michael and his team at Platinum Property Services!

Michael is always a huge support to the Gala, and without him there simply wouldn’t be a parade! He generously gives up his time on Friday and most of Saturday, as well as providing all of the drivers for Gala Day.

A huge thank you also goes to all of the drivers who also help make the parade possible.

This year was extra special, as his son Oakley was delighted to ride in the back of one of his dad’s lorries as a pageboy.

We are very grateful for everything Michael Burns does to help make the Gala such a success 🏆

We were delighted to have Tom Johnston as our Honourable Gentleman this year, accompanied by his wife, Lorna.

The Honourable Gentleman would normally travel in a car during the parade, Tom chose to keep the tradition up by walking the route, just as he has always does with his dad, Archie.
