🐾💙 Meet Our Dogs Monday 💙🐾

This week we’d like to introduce Pirate 🐶🏴‍☠️

Pirate is a Springer Spaniel who worked with Lancashire Police as a specialist drugs, cash and weapons recovery dog. He served alongside his brother Vinnie, forming a hardworking and successful partnership within the police dog unit 🐾💙

During his three years of service, Pirate was involved in a number of successful finds. One of his most notable achievements was locating a loaded firearm hidden inside a wall cavity, helping officers remove a dangerous weapon from the streets and keeping our communities safer.

Sadly, Pirate’s policing career was cut short when he was diagnosed with elbow dysplasia, meaning he could no longer continue working.

Now retired, Pirate lives in Darwen with his wonderful mum, where he enjoys a much more relaxed lifestyle and is thoroughly spoilt – exactly as he deserves after his years of dedicated service 🥰🐶

Unfortunately, Pirate isn’t feeling very well at the moment, so we thought this would be the perfect opportunity to send him some extra love from his Retired Lancashire Police K9 family 💙🐾

The weekend is finally here, and it looks like RPD Claude has already got the right idea 😍🐶

Seeing retired police dogs enjoying life after service is exactly what our charity is all about. From working hard to keeping us safe, to enjoying holidays, walks, adventures and plenty of love in retirement 🥰🐶

Let’s see those tongue-out photos! 😛🐾

🐾💙 Meet Our Dogs Monday 💙🐾

Yesterday we shared a photo of RPD Zak, and it seemed only right that we properly introduce him to you all 🐶💛

Meet Retired Police Dog Zak, a Springer Spaniel who proudly served with Lancashire Police from 2019. During his time in the force, Zak worked alongside his handler, supporting policing operations and helping to keep our communities safe 🐾💙

Unfortunately, after a couple of years of service, Zak suffered an injury which meant he had to retire earlier than expected. Following an operation and a period of recovery, he was able to begin a new chapter with a wonderful family who welcomed him into their home 🏡🐶

Thankfully, Zak has settled into retirement brilliantly. He still loves chasing a ball, enjoying plenty of playtime and making the most of life as a much-loved family pet 🎾🐾

One of the nicest parts of Zak’s retirement is that he still gets to visit the police dog unit from time to time, where he can catch up with the working dogs and enjoy being back in familiar surroundings 🥰🐶

After dedicating part of his life to serving others, Zak is now enjoying the relaxed retirement he deserves, surrounded by a family who care for him deeply 💛🐾
