The RNBT is a naval charity that provides financial assistance and support to Royal Navy and Royal Marines personnel and their families in times of need. The RNBT exists to serve them and their families, by providing support at times of need, throughout their lives.

⚓ The RNBT at the Armed Forces Veterans’ Hub

Our Regional Caseworker Heather, who covers the South & East, will be attending the Armed Forces Veterans’ Hub at Newbury Fire Station on Friday 6 November.

The drop-in event is a relaxed, informal space for serving and former Armed Forces personnel, reservists and their families to meet, chat and connect with like-minded people.

Heather will be there alongside representatives from other charities and organisations, offering advice, guidance and support.

⚓ Remembering a historic moment for women in the Royal Navy

On 1 November 1993, the Women’s Royal Naval Service (WRNS) was formally disbanded as 4,535 women fully transferred into the regular Royal Navy.

This marked the end of more than 75 years of separate service and a significant milestone in the history of women in the Armed Forces. Women had already begun serving aboard operational warships in 1990, and full integration opened the way for service across all ranks and rates, including regular sea service.

Today, we recognise the women who served as Wrens, those who helped shape this change, and all women who continue to serve with dedication and distinction across the Royal Navy. 💙

💙 We were delighted to attend The Masquerade Ball and celebrate 18 years of incredible support for veterans.

It was a wonderful evening filled with great company, entertainment and fundraising for such an important cause. Congratulations to The Veterans Charity and everyone involved in raising over £10,000! 🎉

On 28 October 1664, the origins of the Royal Marines were established, beginning a proud history of courage, commitment and service that continues to this day.

At The RNBT, we support serving and former Royal Navy ratings, Royal Marines other ranks, Reservists and their families. Our support can include financial assistance, alongside advice, guidance and signposting to help people access the support they need.

Glasgow Garden of Remembrance – Annual Opening

Today, 23 October, our Regional Caseworker for Scotland and Northern Ireland, Mark, attended the annual opening of Glasgow’s Garden of Remembrance, laying a poppy wreath on behalf of The RNBT. 💙

Mark is a Royal Navy veteran who served for 30 years, reaching the rank of Warrant Officer 1. During his career, he served in the Submarine Service and completed his sea service as Executive Warrant Officer aboard HMS Richmond.

Now, as a Regional Caseworker, Mark supports serving and former Royal Navy Ratings, Royal Marines Other Ranks and their families across Scotland and Northern Ireland, helping them access the advice, guidance and practical support they need.

It was a privilege to pay tribute to those who have served and sacrificed, and to remember the members of our Naval community who are no longer with us.

We will remember them. ❤️⚓

⚓ Talk Money Week 2026: Money Matters Made Clear 💷

Want to feel more confident managing your money? The White Ensign Association is hosting a free one-hour webinar open to the whole Naval community, including serving personnel, Reservists, veterans and family members.

Led by Financial Wellbeing Manager Alfie Orton, the session will cover everyday financial essentials, including understanding your payslip and tax code, saving, borrowing, credit scores, buying a home and managing debt.
