To celebrate Trustees' Week, we've asked the people who help guide Home-Start Portsmouth, our amazing Trustees, to share their hopes for the future of our charity and the families we support 💜

From making sure support remains available to local families, to listening to parents, strengthening partnerships and reaching even more people, their hopes reflect a shared ambition – helping families give their children the best possible start in life.

Christmas can be a difficult time for many families, and with the cost of living continuing to put pressure on household budgets, we know times aren’t easy for everyone 🧡

As we look ahead to Christmas, we’re asking our community to get involved in whatever way feels right for them to help us support local families with young children across Portsmouth.

There are lots of ways to make a difference, whether that’s:
🎁 Donating to our Christmas Hamper Campaign
🪙 Supporting our Aviva Double Donation appeal through December
🎄 Taking on a Christmas fundraiser
🤝 Getting your workplace involved through corporate giving
💜 Making a small donation, if you’re able to

We know not everyone can give financially, and that’s okay too. Sharing our posts, spreading the word or encouraging your workplace or friend groups to get involved can all help us reach more families who may need support over the holiday season.

W**e, cheese and a good cause… what more could you want?

Join us at Crushed & Cured on Sunday 15th November, 3-5pm, for an afternoon of w**e and cheese tasting, all while supporting local families across Portsmouth 🧡

Your £30 ticket includes a welcome drink, w**e and cheese, a goodie bag and a raffle ticket, with £15 from every ticket going directly to Home-Start Portsmouth!

Whether you’re coming along with friends, your other half or a few colleagues, it’s a lovely way to spend a Sunday afternoon while giving back to your local community.

Thinking about becoming a Home-Start Portsmouth volunteer? Our latest volunteers have completed their training and are ready to make a difference to local families! 💜

Our next volunteer course will take place across just two Saturdays, making it a great option for anyone who wants to volunteer but finds it difficult to commit to weekday training.

You’ll gain the skills and knowledge you need to support families with young children, helping them build confidence and navigate the challenges of family life.

Starting school is a big milestone for children and families, but what does being ‘school ready’ really mean?

Join us for our autumn and winter Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity Stay & Play sessions!

If you’re a Royal Navy or Royal Marines family looking for a free Stay & Play group in Portsmouth, we’d love to see you at our last groups of the year.

Join us every Tuesday from 10-11.30am at Phoenix Naval Community Centre (PO2 9PP) for seasonal crafts, messy play, outdoor fun and a range of holiday and winter-themed activities for little ones. 🧸🍁

Parenting can be rewarding, but that doesn't mean it's always easy. If family life feels challenging at times, you're not alone, and there's no judgement in asking for a little support.

Our Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity Nurturing Programme offers parents a welcoming space to reflect, learn and explore ways to nurture both themselves and their family. As Coordinator Sarah explains in this video, parents who have taken part have shared how they've seen positive changes in family life and started to enjoy being a parent again 💜

The 10-week programme is for all all Hampshire Royal Navy, Royal Marines, Royal Fleet Auxiliary, Royal Navy Reserve and veteran families, helping to build confidence, strengthen family relationships and find new ways forward.

Little steps, big discoveries! From learning to balance to exploring new ways to play, the early years are full of exciting milestones as little ones grow and develop.

For November and December, our free Big Steps for Little People groups will focus on Health & Physical Development, exploring how everyday play can help children aged 1-5 build new skills and confidence.

Come along with your little one to discover more about their development, enjoy time together and pick up ideas to support their growing independence💜
