𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗚𝗲𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆

We’re excited to share that CLIMAVORE CIC has been awarded funding through the Crown Estate Scotland Community Capacity Grants programme to support Accelerating Geology 🌊🐚

This project explores how to transform waste seashells into low-carbon construction tiles and how coastal waste streams can become part of a new circular materials economy.

The funding will support the next stage of research and development in collaboration with Joel Franklyn and The University of Edinburgh, as we work towards establishing a community-led materials enterprise rooted in coastal innovation, skills development, and green employment.

Accelerating Geology asks how island communities can build regenerative futures from the materials already around us; turning shell waste into new forms of ecological and economic value.

We are thrilled to be part of the South Skye Nature Festival, July 24-26th, 2026 🌲🌳🌿🌱🍄🍄‍🟫🐚🌾🌞🌸🌊🐁🦡🦦🦞🦀🦑

Organised by Sleat Nature Group, the weekend is a celebration of Skye's amazing nature, and we’re excited to be taking part!

There are more than 40 free events lined up through the weekend at locations all across the south of Skye, including guided walks, talks and workshops, catering for all —whether nature beginner or expert, young or old, and CLIMAVORE will be running a foraging walk with The Wild Cooke from shore to woods!

In addition to the led activities there will be over a dozen local and national organisations hosting information booths and displays. Come along and chat with them at the An Crùbh community centre event hub on Saturday or Sunday, or book tickets for our event ...or any of the other events!

𝐒𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐢𝐝𝐞 🌕 𝐅𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫 𝐌𝐨𝐨𝐧 🌊𝐓𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐥 𝐆𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐧 🌱

To mark Bealltainn and the beginning of a new season at the Tidal Garden, we gathered at the Black Rock in Portree for an afternoon of shoreline exploration, shared food, and collective making. Sandwiches were munched, tidal pools were formed, and a meandering pathway began to emerge as the first gestures of this season’s activity.

Alongside LOTS of seaweed - including the low tide kelp beds - we spotted butterfish, pipefish, crabs, starfish, whelks, winkles and more 🐚
Tidal Gardens is a space for shared care, cultivation, and learning: bringing people together through coastal ecologies, curiosity, and collective action.

We're thrilled to be part of the South Skye Nature Festival in July!

Bringing The Wild Cooke back to Skye for a coastal and woodland forage, come along and explore the plants that grow on the shore, in the salt marsh, and the woods around Armadale.

On Sunday 26th July, there will be two walks either side of low tide:

10.30am - 12.00pm

12.30pm - 2.00pm
