Tha sinn a’ caoidh call uabhasach ann an saoghal nan còisirean Ghàidhlig an t-seachdain-sa às dèidh bàs Raibeart MhicChaluim. Bha Raibeart na strìuiriche glè shoirbheachail le Còisir Innse Gall Ghlaschu fad iomadh bliadhna agus nochd e fhèin gu pearsanta aig 79 Mòdan ann an streath.

The Gaelic choral world suffered an immeasurable loss at the beginning of this week with the passing of Raibeart MacCallum. Raibeart enjoyed several years of success with the Glasgow Hebridean Choir and, on a personal level, attended an incredible 79 consecutive Royal National Mòds.

He was famed latterly for leading the massed choirs through his father, M G MacCallum’s beautiful arrangement of Sìne Bhàn every Saturday morning of the Mòd. “Let the song sing itself” was always the instruction and that’s what we aimed to do at our practice on Tuesday as a tribute.

A’ dèanamh fiughair ri seo oidhche Dhimàirt. Meala-naidheachd air Lorna agus sgioba Light Up Portree airson gnòthaichean a chur air ais ri chèile cho luath! Chì sinn ann sibh.

The Choir are delighted to be taking part in the rescheduled switching on of the lights on Tuesday. Great effort, Lorna and all at Light Up Portree for getting this rescheduled at such short notice!

TUESDAY NIGHT 25th November-Somerled Square:

ELF HUNT registration 5.45pm-Bring a pen with you. Race commences 6.30pm. Winners light the tree.

6PM entertainment starts, with Skye Youth Pipe Band, songs from Portree Primary School and Bun-sgoil Ghàidhlig Phort Rìgh, tremendous tunes from Skye Wind Band, some more singing and community carol with Portree Gaelic Choir

Radio Skye will also be there with chat and christmas tunes.
