This week we had one of our members Kevin join us for work placement, he got an insight to what youth workers get up to during the day! 🫣
From preparing for sessions to clearing and organising stores and even weeding and planting beautiful flowers to brighten up the community.
Thank you Armagh City, Banbridge & Craigavon Borough Council for the summer floral granted flowers and shrubs which has gave Foundry Street a glow up!
Kevin was a great help this week in preparing for a busy summer, thank you for choosing us!
What an incredibly respectful, hardworking, well mannered and helpful young man!

Community Intercultural Programme

Recent events in our local community have been deeply upsetting, and our thoughts are with all those who have been affected.

As an organisation, we are proud of the diversity of our cross-community and cross-cultural membership. Built on the values of inclusion, diversity, and the celebration of culture, we condemn any behaviour that creates fear, division, intimidation, or harm.

We want to reassure our members, families, and the wider community that CIP is a safe and welcoming space for people of all backgrounds, and we remain committed to ensuring that everyone feels respected, included, and supported.

Our thoughts are with all those affected by these events, including our clients, members, families, volunteers, and neighbours. We recognise that incidents such as these can be particularly upsetting for children and young people, and we want every member of our club to know that they can come to us with any concerns or worries and ask for help at any time.

We also know that many children and young people are currently missing out on opportunities and activities due to the youth activities being closed for their safety. We understand how important these connections and routines are, and we want to reassure our community that reopening and providing these opportunities again is a priority for us. We hope tensions ease soon so that we can continue to offer a safe, warm, and shared space where children, young people, and families feel welcome, valued, and a true sense of belonging.

CIP is committed to supporting any family impacted by these events. If you need assistance, someone to talk to, help reporting an incident, or any other form of support, please contact a member of our organisation in confidence. We will do everything we can to help and, where needed, connect families with appropriate local services and support.

Our organisation remains a place where everyone is welcome, regardless of background, faith, ethnicity, or identity. Together, we will continue to stand for respect, unity, and inclusion.

This week at Afterschool Club, our young people got creative with modelling clay and made a fantastic range of cute animals. From colourful creatures to imaginative designs, there were plenty of animals we wish existed in real life!

They also got to watch the videos they made last week about afterschool club.

Of course, no Afterschool Club would be complete without a tasty snack, and this week everyone enjoyed pancakes together.

Due to planned protests taking place in Portadown this evening, and given the close proximity to our centre, we have made the decision to cancel tonight's Senior Drop-In session. The safety and wellbeing of our young people is always our highest priority, and we strongly encourage everyone to remain at home and avoid the area where possible.

Thank you for understanding.

Another fantastic night at our P7 Transition Project and Junior Drop-In! 🌟

Our P7 young people got stuck into a range of fun icebreakers and took part in an interactive team quiz all about peer pressure and bullying. They also completed activities that helped build their understanding of bullying, how it affects others, and the importance of supporting one another. 💬🤝

A special shout-out goes to Maria, one of our Youth Forum members, who volunteered her time and did an amazing job helping to deliver parts of the session. Well done, Maria! 👏⭐

Meanwhile, the rest of our Junior Drop-In group had a great evening enjoying games, team challenges, and making the most of the dance studio. Kevin was joining us this week from lismorecollegecraigavon who was a massive help not just with prepping for the session and serving food but with interacting with the children. There was plenty of energy, laughter, and teamwork on display throughout the night! 🎮⚽💃

To top it all off, everyone enjoyed some delicious chicken burgers for dinner. 🍔😋

What an amazing weekend we had at East Coast Adventure with some of our fantastic volunteers.

The fact that the weekend coincided with Volunteers’ Week makes it even more meaningful, as it gives us an opportunity to take a moment to appreciate our young leaders. They never let us down, constantly inspire us, and are always the best company. This residential was the perfect way to say thank you for everything they do.

After arriving and getting some food, everyone got to enjoy Revive, where we relaxed in saunas, jacuzzis, plunge pools, and ice baths, all surrounded by the beautiful Mourne Mountains. It was the perfect way to unwind before taking part in team games and archery.

Thank you all for everything you do. We are incredibly lucky to have such an amazing group of young leaders. Your commitment, enthusiasm, and support make a real difference, and we appreciate every one of you.

This week at afterschool we we were showing our creative sides but filming some shorts about afterschool club, together the filmed what they enjoy about attending here, highlights, favourite memories and why future participants would want to join us.

It was amazing to see everyone step out of their comfort zones and taking on roles both behind and in front of the camera.
