A Proactive initiative that looks to the future 🧡

Since 2020/2021 PHT have worked very closely with Portadown District Women’s LOL No 3 and the individual women’s lodges within that district to bring to the forefront much of their history and heritage that was unknown and previously lost to the history books.

This has been brought to the forefront through generous funding that we sought to produce booklets, exhibitions and events. That work very much continues.

Within that time we also seen the formation of Portadown Women's Cultural Friendship, which provides practical hands on support to members and actively works to promote the culture and heritage of women’s history.

We also have supported the existing Daughters of Laura JWLOL 42 with funding opportunities and activities to provide that little bit of support to their hardworking team, who dedicate a lot of time and effort into the organisation- much of it often in the background and unseen.

Majority of the lodges with the women’s district in Portadown have over 100 years of history. This was celebrated between 2021-2024.
We are now engaging with the women’s lodges and looking to the future for the next generation .

Jessie Collen Memorial WLOL 101, Edenderry have an amazing 105 year history with some of the most influential local women within local history having come through the organisation in that time.

WLOL 101 taking a proactive approach to continuing their story for generations to come. An outdated approach would have commentators say that if a lodge ceases to exist simply join another one. Absolutely the wrong mindset - keeping the heritage and history alive should be embraced, welcomed and supported.

WLOL 101 are currently working to reopen the historical Edenderry Junior girls JWLOL 31 - historically one of the first junior lodges that came into existence in the years following the development of the women’s orange institution in the town. It has had a slight rebrand and has been named Daughters of Jessie JWLOL 31.

A warm welcome awaits you 🧡💜 with lots of fantastic opportunities and a wider support network. Contact details are in the graphic below or send us a PM.
