Thank you to fonaCAB Community Fund for your generous support and for taking the time to highlight the work of Craigavon Area Compassion Project.
Weโre grateful for your support and encouragement as we continue supporting individuals and families across our community through the Foodbank, ABC Food Hub, and Welcome & Wellness projects.
The fonaCAB Community Fund โ Craigavon Area Food Bank
It was our pleasure to meet Andrew Maguire from the Craigavon Area Foodbank, part of the Craigavon Area Compassion Project and to say yes to supporting their efforts through our fund.
Operating from the Carn Business Park in Portadown, this is a grassroots, not-for-profit organisation committed to reducing poverty and financial hardship within the Craigavon area, which is home to around 72,000 people. They achieve this through three programmes:
The Craigavon Area Foodbank, which provides emergency food provision for families and individuals in financial crisis. In 2023/24 they supported 5,525 people in our community with emergency food parcels.
The ABC Food Hub which was set up to address the issue of food waste in the area and to redirect that food onto the plates of those who need it the most. Each month, they redirect on average 4 tonnes of food into breakfast clubs, foodbanks, social supermarkets and charities helping those in crisis.
And the Welcome & Wellness project which was launched in January 2024 to help walk alongside those needing additional support outside of emergency food provision, with the aim of reducing long term foodbank use. In 2023/24, they helped 60 individuals on this programme, being supported weekly through tailored, expertly designed wraparound services.
As you can imagine, demand for help during high cost of living times often outstrips supply, so if you can help the great work that they do, please visit https://craigavonfoodbank.charitysuite.com/donate/fund/jwltmizq and donate if you can.
Keep an eye out too on their social media for their upcoming โFundraiser Challengeโ over the summer and if you can, please support this most worthy of initiatives.
