๐Ÿ’š TOGETHER, WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE ๐Ÿ’š

We're excited to launch our Summer Community Fundraising Programme!

This Summer, we are looking to help 8 wonderful individuals, schools or businesses to run a fundraiser for our work in supporting local people in times of crisis.

Whether it's a coffee morning, bake sale, sponsored walk, quiz night or something completely unique, you can help support local people facing hardship right here in our community.

Every pound raised helps us continue providing emergency food, practical support and hope when it's needed most.

The best part?

We'll provide you with a fundraising pack, resources and support to help make your fundraiser a success.

Ready to get involved?

๐Ÿ™‹โ€โ™€๏ธ Tag someone that you would love to take on a challenge with!

Last week, we had the privilege to meet with John and Sarah from Rapid International as they presented Craigavon Area Foodbank with a donation of ยฃ500 to support the work of providing emergency food support to those experiencing crisis.

And honestly, it was just lovely to chat to two people who genuinely cared about how the support from Rapid International Ltd was going to make a difference in the lives of local people who find themselves struggling with an unforeseen life situation, such as a bereavement or job loss.

Thank you again for taking the time out of your busy week to call down and see us. ๐Ÿ’š

We are so saddened to be using this graphic yet again following unrest within our local community last night.

We are horrified and heartbroken by the racist violence that has been unfolding in Northern Ireland over the past couple of days.

We want our towns and distribution centres to be safe and inclusive places for everyone - no matter their age, gender, ethnicity, religion, sexual preference, employment status etc.

There is no place for racism, intimidation or hatred in our community. EVERYONE is welcome here ๐Ÿ’š

Thank you to fonaCAB Community Fund for your generous support and for taking the time to highlight the work of Craigavon Area Compassion Project.

Weโ€™re grateful for your support and encouragement as we continue supporting individuals and families across our community through the Foodbank, ABC Food Hub, and Welcome & Wellness projects.

The fonaCAB Community Fund โ€“ Craigavon Area Food Bank

It was our pleasure to meet Andrew Maguire from the Craigavon Area Foodbank, part of the Craigavon Area Compassion Project and to say yes to supporting their efforts through our fund.

Operating from the Carn Business Park in Portadown, this is a grassroots, not-for-profit organisation committed to reducing poverty and financial hardship within the Craigavon area, which is home to around 72,000 people. They achieve this through three programmes:

The Craigavon Area Foodbank, which provides emergency food provision for families and individuals in financial crisis. In 2023/24 they supported 5,525 people in our community with emergency food parcels.

The ABC Food Hub which was set up to address the issue of food waste in the area and to redirect that food onto the plates of those who need it the most. Each month, they redirect on average 4 tonnes of food into breakfast clubs, foodbanks, social supermarkets and charities helping those in crisis.

And the Welcome & Wellness project which was launched in January 2024 to help walk alongside those needing additional support outside of emergency food provision, with the aim of reducing long term foodbank use. In 2023/24, they helped 60 individuals on this programme, being supported weekly through tailored, expertly designed wraparound services.

As you can imagine, demand for help during high cost of living times often outstrips supply, so if you can help the great work that they do, please visit https://craigavonfoodbank.charitysuite.com/donate/fund/jwltmizq and donate if you can.

Keep an eye out too on their social media for their upcoming โ€œFundraiser Challengeโ€ over the summer and if you can, please support this most worthy of initiatives.

During the month of April we provided ๐Ÿ๐ŸŽ๐Ÿ‘ food parcels to local people facing food insecurity - the equivalent of ๐Ÿ•,๐Ÿ—๐Ÿ–๐Ÿ– meals.

The unwavering public support for our Foodbank is the driving force behind our mission to empower those in need, and together, we can create a brighter future for our community.

๐Ÿ’› A special thank you to the local businesses who kindly donated prizes and the schools that helped pupils take part โ€” your support made this possible.

Without you, we couldn't hope to be there for the people we support.

Because of local kindness last week, we were able to collect in 137kg of food (the equivalent of nearly 400 meals) and ยฃ123.44 at our ASDA Portadown Collection day last week.

Thank you to the stressed parent, the gran on the electric scooter, the guy who was in a rush and only popped in for milk, the three pupils from Portadown College who donated a few pound on their lunch break, to the staff who stopped even after a long shift and the child who could barely reach the bucket but still wanted to donate 20p.

There is no "We can do this ourselves!"

We can only do it with you.

So thank you Portadown for or standing with us in making sure that no family, individual, or child needs to face crisis or hunger alone.

A special thanks goes to Asda Portadown for having us in store and to Caroline ASDA Portadown Community Champion who makes such an impact on so many local charities. Including donating from the ASDA Cafe, some chairs and tables for our volunteer break room!

Also to Denise, Caoimhe and Megan from Progressive Building Society in Portadown who made the collection possible by volunteering their time (and smiles) to give out our 'shopping lists' which have the items we are lowest on at the moment.

From all of us at Craigavon Area Foodbank,

Thank you!
