PONT Our mission is to change lives by linking communities in RCT (Wales) and Mbale (Uganda) in order to efficiently address poverty and development issues

PONT is a Pontypridd based charity that has laid the foundations for a long term, close knit relationship with the Ugandan district of Mbale. This relationship has flourished since 2005 and has expanded to create partnerships that address health, education, engineering and the environment, among others. The partnerships run on direct contact with Ugandan counterparts, cutting out the middle man, a

nd creating a transparency that instills donors with confidence. For us, the main advantage of this way of working together its ability to enrich and solidify the communities involved.

PONT Livelihoods support vulnerable families & children. Projects boost family incomes, through self-help groups, loans for school fees or business start-ups. Goat rearing is another part of our approach, with over 3,500 goats being distributed to date.

Barbra went into labour at night. She called the PONT community healthworker who arranged for a PONT motorbike ambulance to take her to the nearest health centre where she safely delivered her baby. Help train more volunteer healthworkers and save lives. www.pont-mbale.org.uk
