Every day people in the UK go hungry for reasons ranging from redundancy to receiving an unexpected bill on a low income. Trussell Trust foodbanks provide a minimum of three days emergency food and support to people experiencing crisis in the UK.

We team up with Sainsbury’s who generously donate food and items to support local people and help reduce food waste.

Together, in the month of May we achieved:
🥫 322 food items donated
🤝 322 items shared with foodbank clients
🥕 97kg of food saved and redistributed
🌍 420kg of CO₂ emissions prevented
🚗 The equivalent of 1,575 car miles saved
💧 The equivalent of 72,772 litres of water saved

Every donation helps support local families while protecting our planet. Thank you to Sainsbury’s and everyone involved for helping us turn the donations into positive change. 💚

This week, we’ve introduced you to some of the amazing people that make the Pontypridd Foodbank possible. We have taken this opportunity to shout out about their efforts, but we appreciate their generosity and dedication every single day.

To everyone who donates their time to help us support local people in need, THANK YOU.

We couldn’t keep our doors open without our volunteers, but food and cash donations are also vital.

Tomorrow (Saturday 6 June), we will be fundraising and receiving food donations at the Sainsbury’s superstore in Pontypridd. We hope to see you there!

Say hello to Bridgid!

Bridgid came to the Pontyrpidd Foodbank because she wanted to do something about the hardships local people find themselves in.

“There’s this whole support network happening and it’s making a difference to people, enabling them to just survive sometimes, or to improve their lot in life”.

As Bridgid reminds us, “this could happen to anybody. Nobody is that far away from a food bank”. If you’re able, please donate and help us change lives.

Today we’re passing the mic to Catrin. She had always wanted to do some volunteering but never had the time. After she retired last year, she joined us at the Pontypridd Foodbank to give back to people who are less fortunate than her. She wanted something that gave her a structured week and allowed her to meet new people and get involved in new initiatives.

“I like coming in, getting things organised, getting things ready and being able to deliver for the community”.

Foodbank open today at Ynysybwl Community Centre!
Open between 12pm-1pm every Thursday.

It is a satellite foodbank of Pontypridd Foodbank and will be open every Thursday 12pm-1pm

If you have a foodbank voucher and it's easier than going to Treforest, pop in to collect your parcel.

You can also donate foodbank items there if you want to take up a tin or two.
