We're a local charity working in the community to support over 50s, those living with dementia and carers.

We offer a range of services to help older people feel more included in the community. Our aim is to tackle loneliness and isolation in the Plymouth area, through various means, including Day Centres, Active Living, Veteran Support and Community Activities. Our services are displayed on our homepage and are open to everyone aged 50+. Our Information and Advice team offer FREE advice and can help with benefit checks and form completion. 🏠 Could you host our Information and Advice team? 🔎

We're looking for welcoming community venues across Plymouth to host our free Information and Advice sessions for people 50 and over.

Our aim is to bring advice closer to home, making it easier to access support with benefits, housing, health, care and local services.

📍 Could your venue help? We're looking for spaces with a private area for confidential conversations. Sessions can take place weekly, monthly or occasionally to suit your venue.

💙 Could you help shape the future of Age UK Plymouth?

We’re refreshing and expanding our Board of Trustees, alongside the appointment of a new Chair - making this an exciting time to get involved and make a real difference to the lives of older people in our city.

We’re looking for passionate people who can bring their skills, experience and ideas to help guide our charity into the future!

We’re particularly keen to hear from people with experience in:

💷 Finance and accounting
🤝 Fundraising and income generation
💜 Health and social care, especially dementia
🔄 Change, transformation and strategy
⚖️ Legal
📋 Governance

Never been a Trustee before? No problem! You’ll join a friendly, committed Board, with opportunities to learn and make a meaningful impact.

⏰ Time commitment: Around 4 to 6 hours per month, with some meetings available remotely.

If you’re passionate about supporting older people and want to use your skills to make a difference, we’d love to hear from you - whatever your background.

🧶 Where there’s wool, there’s a way! 🧶

The innocent Big Knit is back, and Age UK Plymouth is calling on our wonderful community of knitters and crocheters to help us reach our target of 10,000 little hats! 🎩❤️

For those looking for some knitsperation, there are lots of exciting new designs to try, including fruit and veg inspired creations such as an aubergine 🍆, carrot 🥕 and even a juicy pear! 🍐

You have until October 2027 to get your hats made and sent in, so there’s plenty of time to pick up your needles or hook and get creative.

Every hat knitted helps support The Big Knit campaign and Age UK Plymouth’s work with older people in our community. 💚

Help people aged 50+ across Plymouth make their homes warmer, more comfortable and energy efficient. You’ll provide practical home energy advice and support to help reduce household energy costs. 🌱

A big thank you to everyone who came along to see us yesterday at the Plymstock Wellbeing open day! 👋

It was such a positive day, and we were really pleased to meet so many people, make new connections and help signpost older people to local support and services. 💙

Thank you to all our community partners who came along and held stands with us. It was great to have so many organisations working together to support people in Plymstock. ☺️

The event took place across three local community spaces - Age UK Plymouth, Plymstock Community Centre and Plymstock Library. This gave people a really good opportunity to find out what support is available to them locally. 💡
