If you're struggling, we're here to help 💜

As a long established organisation, working within the city of Plymouth and the surrounding area, we have an excellent track record of delivering services and developing new ones to meet the needs of individuals and community and voluntary organisations. Improving Lives Plymouth runs information, advice and support services for people with disabilities and long-term health conditions. We also help prospective volunteers find interesting and rewarding volunteering opportunities and support organisations to provide good quality volunteering programmes.

Pumpkin carving at the Devon Mental Health Alliance drop in 🎃👻

No scary faces were carved. Instead we made a lot of beautiful seasonal arrangements with colourful autumn flowers! Less spooky, but no less messy getting the pumpkin insides out 😅

Thank you so much to Kirry and Rob from Electrotek Solutions Ltd

In July, they donated 6 computer monitors and 3 staff laptops. This week, we're going to pick up 4 further laptops. That's not even to mention all the work they've done for us repairing and replacing broken parts 😭

They're longtime supporters of Improving Lives whose tech support has helped our staff care for hundreds of people, and we're grateful every time. 💜🙏

If you help someone who couldn't manage without you, you are a carer. You don’t have to use this word if you don’t want, and many choose not to. They say husband, wife, child, mum, neighbour, friend.

But whether you use the word or not, it opens the door to support, money and rights that exist to help make your life, and the life of the person you care for, easier.

Come and find out what it is at our Carers Rights Day event: Thursday 19 November, 10am to 3pm, Plymouth Methodist Central Hall. No booking needed.

Our Sight and Hearing team recently had a lovely time putting on a BSL-supported Wellbeing Hour with LUSH UK and BSL interpreter Emily Howlite.

The session was aimed at families and we were extra delighted to welcome two families who attended with their hearing children!

Our annual young adult carers sailing trip this year was incredible, thank you so much to Sailing Tectona for creating such a special experience for our group!

We had dolphins swimming next to the boat on both Saturday and Sunday, we prepared food together, we ate together, we played games and generally had the best time. Our own Nicolle won the sea sickness certificate 🌊💜

Thank you so much to the The Cattedown Social Club for helping our Better Futures members celebrate such an amazing summer party! 💜

Debbie and Vince from the Club deserve a huge thanks for making us all feel so welcome. Performances from the Better Futures Band, amazing food, laughter, and SO MUCH DANCING! Vince even did a fantastic job DJ-ing and keeping everyone on the dance floor.

We are looking forward to coming back in December!
