We are incredibly excited about our spring concert tomorrow evening at 7:30 in Crail Parish Church. We are singing an original composition that fuses Argentinian tango music and the choral mass as well as works by quintessentially British composers to create a concert of truly multicultural choral music. Anstruther Phil's Spring Concert will be accompanied by the multi-talented pianist and organist, Gordon Cree.

Gordon Cree is one of the most frequent players giving the daily lunchtime recitals at Glasgow’s Kevingrove Art Gallery. He is organist and director of music at St Andrew's West Church in Glasgow’s City Centre. He regularly plays at the Tower Ballroom in Blackpool - well known to Strictly Come Dancing fans! He’s also an accomplished singer and raconteur onboard luxury cruise liners.

Plus he is a highly skilled knitter! He recently appeared on Channel 4’s ‘Game of Wool’ and demonstrated his skills in the Fair Isle technique.

He hails from Glasgow, where he has accompanied the Tango Mass under Au Arias’s direction. Gordon Cree's versatility will be demonstrated in the Phil's Spring Concert, where he will accompany church music by Elgar and Howells on the organ in the first half and the toe-tapping rhythms of the Tango Mass on piano in the second half.

It’s not every day that a little community choir gets the opportunity to sing an original composition, let alone one written by the conductor! I sat down with our musical director Au to hear more about the process of creating his fantastic Tango Mass, which has been a delight to be preparing for our spring concert.

Our Christmas concert saw us stretch into some musically ambitious territory, buoyed by the remarkable talents of our harpist En Hudson, brilliant soloists from St Salvator's Chapel Choir, and the wonderful musicians who supported us throughout. It was a triumph and a thrill to put together such an exciting program for our friends and family in the East Neuk!

Start the New Year with a song! We are looking for new singers! We are a welcoming choir that supports newcomers, so please message us if you are interested in singing with us. We are singing an interesting repertoire this term, including music by Elgar and Howells, as well as a Tango Mass composed by our Choir Director Au Arias.
