Harbourlights, East Neuk Music Theatre Co formerly known as Waid Junior Operatic Society Waid Junior Operatic Society has undergone a make-over!!

After more than 30 years we decided it was time for a change. We are a youth music theatre group and our cast is made up of young people from all over the East Neuk of Fife from primary 4 up to those aged 18 and still in education. We meet at Waid Centre, Anstruther, on Wednesday evenings during term time - 6.30 (sharp) until 8pm. Please note -

rsals to use for publicising the group and productions - if you don't want your child to appear in these photos please private message the page. We will never tag children in photos aoppearing on our page, though sometimes the older children choose to do this themselves. When licence agreements permit, videos are taken of our productions so that they may be available to cast members as a show memento.

After a great amount of soul searching and changing of minds we are delighted to announce that our 2027 production will be Beauty and the Beast Jr!

Performances will take place in Waid Academy on Thursday 18th, Friday 19th, and Saturday 20th March 2027.

Can all current cast members please get in touch ASAP to let us know if they wish to be part of the production.

Prospective cast members: please keep a look out for a message next week inviting you to register your interest.

It’s Wednesday night and doesn’t it feel strange without Harbourlights? To tide us all over, until it all begins again in August, here’s a post showing some love and appreciation for our awesome production team!
At our post show party, the Harbourlights committee were pleased to make a quick presentation to the team - to show how much the committee and cast appreciate all their efforts, throughout the year. The team love nothing more than giving our cast the opportunity to shine on stage, but are all very modest and don’t like the spotlight being on them - so grabbing a quick photo is a very rare occurrence!

🏆 L O N G S E R V I C E T R O P H I E S 🏆
We were delighted to recognise 2 of our longest serving cast members, Arran and Cameron, as they completed their final show with us this year.
Both were presented with personalised trophies, highlighting all of the shows they had starred in during their time in our cast.
Interestingly, Cameron was our last remaining cast member to have taken part in a Harbourlights show in the “old Waid” building - this was Rewind37, in 2017, a review show marking the end of our time in the original school building.
Arran joined us just after this (due to joining age restrictions, at the time) and they both went on to star in the following productions:
2018 - Singin’ in the Rain
2019 - Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat
2020 - Summer Holiday (cancelled due to Covid)
2021 - no show due to Covid pandemic
2022 - Encanto workshop
2023 - Wizard of Oz
2024 - Oliver!
2025 - Guys & Dolls
2026 - Chitty Chitty Bang Bang
We couldn’t be prouder of them both and would like to sincerely thank them for all their hard work, and dedication, towards the many shows they’ve been part of!

⭐️ 5 Y E A R S S E R V I C E A W A R D S ⭐️
At our recent post show party, we took the opportunity to celebrate, an astonishing, 14 cast members achieving their 5 years service awards.
We can’t remember ever having such a large cohort, reaching the 5 year milestone, together! Everyone receiving an award joined us in 2022, when we reconvened after Covid.

Last night, our Harbourlights Committee held our post show party, at Anstruther Town Hall, for our cast and production team. It was a great opportunity for us all to come together and celebrate all the hard work, and achievements, of everyone involved in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang!

👏🏻 Lastly, thank you to our committee (who also double up as our costume team!) for pulling it all together and putting on a great party for everyone.
It’s always lovely to bring everyone back together and give our show a proper send off!

🙌 T H A T ' S A W R A P 🙌
Now the final curtain has closed on Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, and we've all had a couple of days to recover, we wanted to share with you all this little "Before the show and After the show" video. We think this demonstrate perfectly why we do what we do... its all about our cast!
None of this would be possible without help, dedication and planning from the following:
Our fantastic Production Team (Vicky, Gillian, Michelle, Anne, Alan and James); Effy our superb Choreographer; John and Gill working their magic on Lighting; Josh on Music Tech; Iain on Sound; our Costume Team / Committee; Parents / Carers / Grandparents who support us by volunteering to help on show nights; Waid Community Use staff (particularly Margaret, Craig, Caroline and the cleaning team); local businesses for donating to our raffle and Otto for taking photos for us.
We'd also like to say a huge thank you to everyone who came to watch our show. Your support means the world to our cast! Three sell out shows was an amazing achievement and the cast were thrilled to perform for you all each night.
Finally, a massive thank you to our cast! We are so proud of each and every one of you and are so thrilled that you took the opportunity, to shine like the stars you all are, in this years show.
