Thank you to Michael Alexander at The Courier for joining the Clean & Green Team on their morning round.

This service is funded directly by local businesses through BID levy, to deliver enhanced care above and beyond Fife Council's baseline statutory services.

With our BID Renewal currently underway, it’s fantastic to see the spotlight on one of the key services dedicated to keeping our town centre looking its absolute best for businesses, locals, and visitors.

The Big Hoolie, organised and delivered by BID St Andrews and funded through the BID levy, has become one of the town's flagship annual events.

Since 2017, our St Andrew's Day celebrations brought people into St Andrews from across Fife and beyond, providing a welcome boost for local businesses at the start of the festive season while generating national and international media coverage for the town.

As the BID ballot continues, The Big Hoolie is just one example of the projects made possible through the BID levy. Without a successful ballot, initiatives like this are at risk.

As part of their regular morning rounds, our Clean and Green Team have been out this week keeping on top of litter and helping maintain a clean town centre.

Following a report through the Love St Andrews app, Rory made a start on clearing the weeds at Murray Place. The team also identified that a litter bin on South Street was quickly reaching capacity due to the high levels of footfall. After raising the issue, an additional litter bin has now been installed to help manage the extra litter in one of the busiest parts of the town centre. Thanks to Fife Council for supporting us in making this possible.

We,in St Andrews in Bloom, can not commend the Clean and Green team highly enough. Without them the hanging baskets would not be in place every summer,the planters would not be topped up with new compost and the liners would not be removed from the bus station and the harbour and replaced.
As Bid St Andrews have said in their post on this, we,the residents of St Andrews, have so much else to thank them for. The quiet removal of graffiti and stickers stuck to lamp standards, the cleaning up of litter often done early morning when no one is around, the cleaning up of plants which have been pulled from our tubs and notifying us of this so we know it has happened.
Many people do not realise the important job Dave and his team do but,believe me,without their contribution the town would look a lot worse.
We,in Bloom, could not continue as we do without them.
