policies and activities to the needs of the migrant communities. Promotion of social inclusion for the public benefit by working with people who are socially excluded on the grounds of their ethnic origin, religion, belief or creed (in particular, members of the Roma community) by developing the capacity and skills of members of that community to assist them to integrate with and participate more fully in society. The advancement of citizenship and community development by promoting a better understanding within British society; and by promoting civic responsibility, good citizenship and volunteering

The advancement of education (including social and physical training) of people in such ways as the charity trustees think fit, including by promoting the learning of native languages (including but not limited to Czech and Slovak); supporting parents to engage with their children’s education; and mentoring and coaching young people.

Today, Compas Charity proudly launched a new exhibition dedicated to Roma culture, heritage, and lived experiences.

As communities around the world prepare to mark International Romani Day on Wednesday 8th April, this exhibition offers a powerful opportunity to reflect, celebrate, and raise awareness of Roma history and identity.

It was a true honour and pleasure to welcome Shabina Qayyum and Andrew Pakes MP to the opening. We are especially grateful to Andrew for taking the time to speak with our students from Peterborough Regional College (PRC), Anglia Ruskin University (ARU), and our interns — sharing insights, encouragement, and engaging in meaningful discussion.

At Compas Charity, we remain committed to creating spaces where culture is celebrated, voices are heard, and communities come together.

We warmly invite everyone to visit the exhibition at the Peterborough Cultural Centre and join us in celebrating Roma culture and International Romani Day.
