Peterborough witnessed a heartwarming community initiative as SED Trust distributed roses in Cathedral Square to celebrate Mawlid, the birth of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.
The event, believed to be the first public Mawlid celebration of its kind in the local area, aimed to share the beautiful values taught by Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, including love, peace, brotherhood and mercy.
Members of the public warmly received the roses and engaged with volunteers, helping to spread a simple message of kindness, understanding and unity.
A representative of SED Trust said: “We wanted to celebrate the occasion by sharing the values of love, peace, brotherhood and mercy with our local community. It was a small gesture, but one that we hope brought a smile to people and helped bring our community closer together.”
Local councillor Murtaza Ahmed Munir, who attended the event, praised the initiative and thanked everyone involved. He said:
“This is a great initiative and a wonderful way to share the message of love, peace and kindness with the wider community. It is lovely to see people coming together and spreading such positive values. I would like to thank everyone involved in organising this event and all the volunteers who made it possible.”
The charity thanked everyone who stopped by and supported the initiative, hoping this will become a positive tradition in Peterborough for years to come.
