It's Scotland Loves Local Week, so make that extra trip to your favourite local business.💙
We took the pledge back in 2024 after winning the 'Most Enterprising Community Award.'

Action starts with you, so choose local- supporting your local businesses is supporting your community and economy, aswell as protecting your environment. 💪🌟

We are beyond ecstatic to have made it to the Finals of The Scottish Charity Awards, out of 353 nominations! 👏😁

We were nominated for the 𝗖𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁 Award after diverting 60 tonnes from landfill last year via our Swap Shop and second-hand Furniture Store. We encourage everyone to live more sustainably by making second-hand your first choice, and growing your own food. We have 2 allotment sites, an orchard, community planters and a community woodland, aswell as hosting litter-picks and opening a Tool Library.

Thank you so much to the Scottish Charity Awards for this incredible recognition. Our services would not be possible without each of our incredible volunteers, staff and trustees, working tirelessly for a more sustainable future, proving that local community-led action can create a lasting climate impact! 🌎♻️

We had a fantastic night at the Awards, and met some amazing organisations doing outstanding work accross Scotland! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 A huge well done to our joint finalists Social Flock and Magpie Charity Shops , and congratulations to Crail Community Partnership for taking home the trophy! It is incredibly well deserved!

Churches Action for The Homeless (CATH) will be at the Swap Shop on Wednesday 24th June 10am-12noon to host a mini Lend and Mend workshop😁. They host lots of textile and upcycling workshops on the High Street, but just for us they'll be showing you how to make macrame earrings to reuse those unwanted tshirts! ♻️👚
Pop along from 10am to try your hand at macrame, and find out everything going on at Lend and Mend.🧵🪡

Calling all local posties!

We have a distinct shortage of large elastic bands in our store room. I blame Muriel for starting the last elastic band fight, she’s incorrigible. 😂

So dear posties, should you find yourselves with a surplus of used elastic bands, please spare a thought for us and drop them into Letham Climate Challenge at Garth Avenue. We will be positively delighted to receive them.

22.5kg of litter collected from around Dalreoch Place today 💪🗑♻️
We were shocked at the amount of litter that had accumulated since our last visit. However, we were pleased to see no disposable v**es this time! We're starting to see the wins of the single-use v**e ban. 😁

A plea for help…

Hi all,

I have a very particular item I am on the look out for, for one of our lovely customers. I’m desperately hoping someone in our community can help please.

We have a very young, poorly girl, who needs to take her medicine 7 times a day. To make this a bit more fun, Mum gives this to her in a plastic expresso size cup. It makes her feel like a big girl, so she drinks from it like an absolute superstar! 🥰

Mum came to us this week looking for help (having trawled the internet) to find some more of these cups. She needs some for nursery and for starting school.

The requirements are very specific. The cups must be unbreakable and light weight, as it can be a struggle not to drop them. They must have a handle. They can’t be too big as, quite rightly, the little darling feels short changed if her cup isn’t full enough. (She is a little lady after my own heart 😂). Expresso size is perfect.

If you have any tiny plastic/ melamine, tin or silicone cups hiding away in the back of your cupboards, or any cups from a toy tea-set that are no longer being used, please, please drop them into the swap shop or drop me a message.

The more shares we get on this post the more chance we have of success. Please spread the word.
