🌿 We’ve been busy tidying up the bed underneath the Cherry tree, getting it ready for some lovely Wallflowers to go in very soon
The Cherry tree itself also had a little trim, this will help to strengthen the branches and encourage healthy new growth 🌸

We will be back out again this Sunday 23rd August at 10.AM come and find us, have a chat or even join in.

🌿 What a lovely afternoon! 🌿

It was so lovely catching up with some of our volunteers who we haven’t seen for a few weeks. 💚

We gave the planters a good tidy up and cut back the dead stems at Duke Street. A little bit of rain and everything should soon start to perk up again! 🌱🌦️

It’s almost time to start thinking about planting our tulip bulbs for a beautiful splash of colour next spring. 🌷

With a little time left, we headed over to the stone planters at Tolcarne, next to the undertakers, and gave this a much-needed tidy too.

A lovely few hours spent together, getting our community spaces looking good again. 🌸💚

🌿 WE ARE BACK! 🌿

What a hot summer we are having! ☀️ We hope you’ve all stayed safe, keep cool and enjoy getting out and about.

With the heatwave, we were advised not to tend to the green spaces that we look after, so we had a break, we’ve enjoyed spending time with family, having visitors to stay and holidayed ourselves. ❤️

But now… it’s time to get back out again! 🌿🪻

We’ll be starting this Wednesday 19th August, from 4pm–6pm. We’ll be tidying the planters in Barons Square and giving the beds at Duke Street Car Park some much-needed TLC.

🌱 Come and find us, lend a hand, or simply pop by to say hello we’d love to see you! 💚

We were delighted to have been invited to be part of Newlyn’s Family Fun Day, recently held at Gwavas Playing Field! 🌸🌿

We had lots of garden themed activities for the children to enjoy. They potted up Eryngium planum, made a fun cress egg head and created a beautiful Sempervivum shell garden, all to take home with them 🌱🥚🐚

If any of you have photos of what your children created with us, we’d love to see them! Please pop a photo in the comments below. 📸👇

Thank you to everyone who made it such a lovely day 🌿🥰 🌸

We are excited to be at this event on Friday to run some children's gardening activities. Starting at 11am. 🌱🌼😎

We were recently approached by the Newlyn Harbour and asked if we could plant up the beds at the new Newlyn Harbour Marine Skills and Resource Centre.
Plans were soon put into action, with all the plants being locally sourced from nearby nurseries and funded by Newlyn Harbour. The plants have been carefully chosen to provide year-round colour, texture and interest, while also offering a valuable food source for bees, butterflies and other pollinating insects.
On Wednesday, nine of our volunteers got digging and planted the following:

🌿 Fatsia japonica
🌸 Geranium ‘Dilys’
🌸 Geranium ‘Rosanne’
💜 Nepeta ‘Six Hills Giant’
🌿 Teucrium fruticans
🌱 Rosmarinus ‘Boule’
🌾 Libertia grandiflora
🍃 Coprosma ‘City Night’

🌿Bolitho Gardens Update 🌿

We’re aware of rumours suggesting that Newlyn Flora is taking over Bolitho Gardens—this is not the case.
These much-loved gardens have been cared for over many years by the Friends of Bolitho Gardens. We were recently delighted to be invited by Cormac to lend our support and become a little more involved.
Due to our limited capacity and our existing commitments to sites we tend in Newlyn, we’re only able to support the Cormac-led volunteer days as they take place, as we do at Gwavas Playing Field. We hope this added support will help the fantastic regular volunteers who care for the beds and ensure the gardens continue to be a well-loved space for the whole community.
🌱 Get involved!🌱
Everyone is warmly invited to join the Bolitho Gardens Big Help Day with Cormac's wonderful volunteer coordinator Lea Thomas on 6th August from 10am. Whether you’re an experienced gardener or just keen to help out, you’ll be very welcome.
Spending time volunteering outdoors has so many benefits—so take a break from the screen, enjoy some fresh air, and be part of something positive in your community.

🌻We always enjoy returning to Duke Street Car Park, where our community gardening journey began. What started as a group of people who didn’t know each other has grown into a supportive community. We have learned so much from one another, we have laughed and support each other along the way 🥀
