Sad news in Paignton. One of our most loved couples has passed away a few days apart from each other.
One of the happiest afternoons I remember in the Tearooms was when Wag and Joyce came in for Afternoon Tea. In their usual style they were dressed for the occasion and Wag entertained us with memories of the town and their pubs. Much Love and Best Wishes to all the Rivers Family.
Together for 75 years, gone just two days apart — Paignton is mourning a much-loved couple who were at the heart of its community. ❤️
Wag and Joyce Rivers ran some of the town's best-known pubs for decades, supporting local sports teams and bringing generations of people together.
Joyce died aged 93 on October 1, followed by Wag, 95, on October 3. Their family has shared a moving tribute to their extraordinary life together.
