We had a fantastic time celebrating our volunteers and announcing the winner of the Angela Joss 'Bee You' Memorial Award 2026 during Volunteers' Week.

It was a fun-filled, emotive, and heartfelt evening as we recognised all the incredible people who make shmu, well... shmu, and those who make a difference within their communities.

Thank you to every volunteer for your dedication, compassion, and commitment. Your time, energy, and kindness help create positive change every single day.

💬 "Volunteering brings so many people together of all ages and abilities - I think that's a really important part of our community."

Volunteering at this year's Gathimba Edwards Foundation races at Duthie Park, Rachael enjoyed supporting a cause close to her heart whilst being part of a welcoming, friendly community. Volunteering alongside her daughter Emily made the experience even more meaningful.

🎥 In our Why I Volunteer in Aberdeen series, Rachael shares how volunteering brings people together and creates a community - encouraging others to get involved too.

City unveils plans to build a fairer future

Community Planning Aberdeen has launched its new Local Outcome Improvement Plan (LOIP) 2026-2036 alongside three new Locality Plans for North, Central and South.

Shaped by the views of more than 3,000 people across the city, the plans set out a shared vision for a fairer Aberdeen – where everyone can thrive, feel connected, and have a voice in shaping their future.

Focusing on tackling inequality, improving life chances and strengthening communities, the plans outline five key priorities for change – including reducing poverty, improving outcomes for young people, and creating fairer access to work.
