Aberdeen South Foodbank (operated by TLC)
As part of TLC's commitment to serving our community, we have partnered with the Trussell Trust in order to fulfil our aim of supporting people struggling with the effects of poverty across the South of Aberdeen and the surrounding areas. The Befriending Project:
TLC is also working with partners to establish our befriending project (starting in April 2021) working with those affected by the crippling effects of loneliness & Isolation.

Foodbank Collection point open tomorrow at the Old Torry Community Centre. As well as support with food, Stan from Pathways will be there to offer support with employment. Connor from SAMH will be there to offer support with mental health, self help and wellbeing. Representatives from the Greyhope Community Hub will also be able to let you know the support they can offer.

At TLC we have two main projects - The Foodbank and our Befriending service. We are keen to get a new wave of befriending started up again. If you are keen to volunteer please Email us at [email protected]. This could be to run a small befriending group or to become a 1:1 Befriender for someone experiencing loneliness in Aberdeen.

Today, TLC provided 39 food parcels to individuals and families across Aberdeen. 💚

That’s 39 parcels filled with food and essentials for a person or family facing a difficult time.

We’re so grateful to our volunteers, donors, local businesses and community partners who make this support possible. Every tin, packet, bag and donation really does make a difference.

Demand remains high. So far this year we have put out almost fives times the number of parcels as last year. We are continuing to do everything we can to make sure people can access support. Just now some of our shelves are empty - particularly tinned fruit, tinned vegetables and all toiletries but we are working hard to make sure we can provide.

We have a new spot for our collection point in Sainsbury’s Garthdee. We are now further along the wall between the wheelchairs and the space where people leave their trollies to visit the cafe.
We have decorated the side of our box to help it be seen but it is very easy to miss it. Our foodbank is struggling this week with the lack of donations. Please help spread the message of our new location.
