Harvest Workers Co-op We are a not-for-profit workers' co-op working to improve access to and knowledge of healthy food produced ecologically and sustainably.

We are a not-for-profit workers' co-op working to improve access to and knowledge of healthy food produced locally, ecologically and sustainably through our farm shop and educational activities. Our mission is to offer the population of Okehampton and the surrounding area

* locally produced organic and sustainable food
* learning opportunities on all aspects of food production and consumption and

its link to social environmental and health issues
* support for a resilient local economy

We retail local organic and ecologically produced foods through our farm shop. We organise events and educational activities on issues related to farming, food production, nutrition, food preservation and healthy eating such as farm visits and producers' open days; growing or food preparation workshops; film screenings and talks
We create links with local groups and individuals through our educational activities
We promote food sovereignty and ecological farming and we work to further the message of the connection between farming,the environment, our health and the health of our community. We work to strengthen the local economy by supporting producers and businesses that practice good animal welfare (organic; pasture-fed; GM-free)
We pay local producers fair prices and give them greater access to a local market
We source over 50% of produce from Devon sustainable food growers
We provide information on sustainable food systems and models, food miles, nutrition, recipes etc displayed and discussed in the shop
We operate as a non profit and use any surplus revenue from shop sales to further our educational activities

We are excited to let you know, we’ll be stocking Coastal Goats beautiful organic goats products: milk, yogurt and kefir. We’ll have the first few products arriving tomorrow Friday. We’ve been asked for goats products for a long time, so we are delighted to finally be able to offer these and from such a wonderful family farm in Devon farming in harmony with nature, hurrah! We'll take orders from next week on.

Very special local Devon new potatoes from Shillingford Organics will be in tomorrow(Friday). Grown in exceptionally healthy Red Devon soil teaming with life. Crucially No sprays and no fertiliser used for many decades. Soil teaming with life doesn't need artificial inputs toxic and detrimental to life derived from fossil fuel petroleum. You will taste the difference in these sweet and creamy new potatoes. I personally have spent many memorable years working with this amazing soil with the Shillingford growing team before purchasing the small Hilltown small holding in Okehampton. This red soil is very special, with an exceptionally healthy soil food web of life gives vegetables exquisite delicate flavours.
If you have some, pair up and serve with some healthy fresh mint, we've got fresh garden mint too from Hilltown Organics. Together, they provide a strong dose of antioxidants and vitamins and actively supporting digestion and heart.

Looking ahead to next week, Shillingford will be digging the first local potatoes.
