**Well, last night's ins and out to catch Sparticus hog proved fruitless....so the hunt continues 🫣**

We have a little conundrum here at the hogspital...hope you're sitting comfortably....
3 days ago I went out to refill the feeding boxes and there was some more awful 💩 in one....a sure sign of a poor hog (not Penfold as he had already been picked up and was in hogspital) so began the nightly patrols of trying to catch it. A night later I went out and there was a hog in box...so I kidnapped him...he's been called Sparticus. On examination, his sample showed intestinal parasites for which he is being treated but he hasn't got the awful 💩 like what was in feedbox. This morning on topping up feed boxes I found another awful sample so the above hogs claim of being Sparticus is a falsehood...he's still unknown...the hunt therefore goes on! Now the question is...how many hogs do I" kidnap " to find him...there are quite a few hogs that visit! 🫣🤔🤔

Tonight our handsome boy Penfold has been released. He was one I "kidnapped" from my garden. I'd been out to refill feeding stations in the garden and there was awfull 💩 in one of the boxes that were indications that the hog was poorly. After in and outing all evening I found Penfold (Named so because there was a little mouse in box with him)in box so picked him up. Sample results showed that he had intestinal parasites. He's had all his treatment and his sample is clear, and he's been subtly marked with a coloured bead for reference. So he's now off on his travels. Stay safe little man.

I am looking for a safe release site in Long Lee for a lovely male hog who cannot return to its finder. You must already have visiting hogs and have a hog house for him to be released from and be able to support feed him till he decides to wander off. Please message me if you feel you can do this.
Thanks 🦔🦔🦔🦔

New admissions just now, Amanda found on the fields in Holden Woods. She's underweight, dehydrated so very wobbly on her feet, she's had some fluids and is now tucked up in a box with some food and water. Here she is enjoying some lovely tasty kitten biscuits. She is being given time to de compress and settle. We will test a sample once she's produced one, to check for nasty bugs in her tummy, which you can guarantee she will have. She's been checked over, no obviouse signs of any injuries but she'll be monitored. Here she is enjoying some very tasty kitten biscuits. A big thank you to her finder who remembered that a hog out in the day is not ok so called me for advice. Fingers crossed we can get her well and we can release her back into the wild...hopefully to have some little hoglets.

Have just come back from vets after having to take a lovely handsome young male hog with a badly broken leg and dislocated hip be humanly PTS. He was quite thin so had obviously been struggling for a while...can't imagine how much pain he had been in and for how long.....and the probable cause of his injury..NETTING. Please please please, if you are using NETTING in your garden, allotment please raise them at least a foot from the ground so that hogs can pass under safely without getting tangled. If you have children's football nets, please raise them too at the end of the day. These very small actions can save lots of lives and also unecessary suffering.

New admissions today, teeny tiny 294gm little girl we've named Tiamat. She was found in a pond with no escape route and would most certainly have drowned if she hadn't been found. Her finder hadn't realised the rocks she had put in round the edges had moved but is now making sure they are in place incase another hog should fall in. Can I please ask anyone with a pond to please make sure there is some sort of escape route for any animal that should have the misfortune to fall in...it's such a simple thing to do but can save so many unnecessary deaths. Tuamat had had a warm bath, some medication and pain relief and is snuggled up in a fleece on a lovely warm heat pad. Hopefully she'll feel a bit better in the morning.

Well, it's an end of an era.....sad but happy too....today our wonderful, beautiful, troublesome but so adorable Tiggy has gone for release with her finder. What a journey we have had together. She came in together with her brother T***s as teeny tiny babies back in June after they were found out alone in the day. They both proved to have lots of problem's and were both failures to thrive. It took months to get weight on them, lots of hand feeds and patience which eventually paid off. After overwintering they were moved to hutches and then onto soft release. T***s gained his freedom 2 weeks ago, Tiggy needed a little bit longer but today all the hard work came to fruition and she has gone for release weighing a healthy 926 gms. Keep safe beautiful girl, we shall miss you but are soooo happy you have finally gained your freedom. ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Little Hubert is a very very late autumn juvenille. He came in at 325gms so unwell...he was dehydrated, cold and we were not sure he was going to pull through. He is battling a tummy full of nasty parasites and is struggling to put on weight. He's receiving treatment for the nasties and is being supported with fluids and hand feeds (which he protests about and flicks all over me!) He's beginning to be less uncooperative and shy and has decided we're not really so bad after all.! Here he is having a sneaky peek out of his snugglebag while I clean his box and fill with clean bedding. Fingers crossed he continues his recovery, albeit very slowly. 💙
