AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM THE BRONTË BIRTHPLACE IN THORNTON. WE ARE HONORED TO SHARE.
The Brontë Birthplace, Thornton is a project that is spreading joy and wonderment from the dear little house at 72-74 Market Street, Thornton.
We would love to show you around and I just know you will be as enchanted by the magical house, as all our visitors are. This is the house where Charlotte, Branwell, Emily and Anne were known to have been born in front of the fireplace, which still exists today. Patrick Brontë described their time in Thornton as their 'happiest days'.
It is an amazing story of Bradford City of Culture 2025 using their legacy fund to provide the initial funding, and then 770 members contributing and the formation of a Community Benefit Society that will protect the Birthplace for the community in perpetuity. We believe the Brontë Birthplace to be the most important heritage opening anywhere in the UK last year. Surely it must claim the prize for the highest number of famous writers born in a single house anywhere in the world!
We opened in March 2025 and Her Majesty the Queen officially opened the Birthplace in May last year, launching our Be More Brontë campaign to inspire children to take on new life challenges.
It will be a delight to show your group around at a time and in a manner that is convenient to you.
I attach full details of our tours as well as the link to our website.
If you have any questions at all just let me know.

At the Birthplace we have three bedrooms, Charlotte, Emily and Anne's.
What a delightful place to stay for a Brontë enthusiast. This is the only place in the world you can sleep where the Brontës lived!
