Nunthorpe Parish Council have received reports that work appears to have commenced on 𝐏𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐜 𝐑𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐖𝐚𝐲 𝐌𝐈𝐃 𝟒𝟔/𝟏 which runs from opposite Nunthorpe Hall, across the field behind Agricola Cottages to link up with the Bridleway. You may know it as the ‘muddy path’!

𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐰𝐚𝐲 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐅𝐎𝐎𝐓𝐏𝐀𝐓𝐇 𝐂𝐋𝐎𝐒𝐄𝐃 𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞.

It is unclear if any diversion has been put in place. We will look to find further information over the weekend and into next week and provide any updates to this post.

In the meantime please avoid this path and we ask you not to trespass onto nearby farmland so as to protect any farm crops in the surrounding area.

The area around Nunthorpe War Memorial will have the grass cut and grass painted poppies refreshed the week commencing 2nd November.
Thanks to Forces and Community Together for the excellent display this year.

Overnight road closure

🚧 UPDATED INFORMATION – STAINTON WAY / MALLOWDALE ROAD CLOSURE 🚧

PLEASE NOTE: THE CLOSURE IS NOW CONFIRMED FOR TWO NIGHTS - 19:30-00:00

Following my discussions with the Principal Engineer at Middlesbrough Council, I have received further clarification regarding the planned resurfacing works at the Stainton Way/Mallowdale junction.

The latest information confirms that the road closures are scheduled to take place over two nights, commencing Tuesday 13 October 2026, between 7:30pm and midnight each night.

During these hours, sections will be closed, with signed diversion routes for motorists.

Importantly, the road will remain open throughout the daytime, so residents can continue to use it as normal outside the scheduled closure hours.

I also raised concerns about the incorrect information displayed on the advance warning signs. The council has confirmed that this has now been passed to the contractor for correction.

The works will be carried out by Tarmac on behalf of Middlesbrough Council and are weather-dependent, meaning the schedule could change if unforeseen circumstances arise.

The council has also confirmed that no weekend working is planned.

I appreciate that the conflicting information has caused unnecessary confusion for residents. This is why I’ve been in direct contact with the council to establish the correct arrangements and ensure everyone has the most accurate information available.

Nunthorpe Parish Councillor representatives attended the public consultation yesterday for the proposed development of Land South of Middlesbrough Road (Nunthorpe Bypass)

Although not within the Parish Boundary, or Middlesbrough Council boundary, our concerns are the impact the proposal will have for Nunthorpe and surrounding areas.

The developer TCC Land could give no reassurance or solutions for our concerns, particularly for the impact on our infrastructure including road networks.

TCC Land and its consultancy team is currently undertaking a comprehensive masterplanning exercise that considers the potential of the site for mixed use development.

Consultation Event being held at Nunthorpe & Marton Playing Fields Association on Tuesday 22nd September 3pm - 6:30pm.

This is for a proposed significant development of land to the South of Nunthorpe bypass in Redcar & Cleveland side of Nunthorpe.
