πŸ’œCervical Screening Awareness Week is a week from today.

If you are between 25 and 64 and have a cervix, we encourage you to contact your GP to book a screening (also known as a smear). If you missed your screening, you can contact your GP to arrange another one. Regular cervical screening can prevent up to 75 per cent of cervical cancers by detecting HPV (human papillomavirus) mostly before the cancer develops.

It is normal to feel nervous about booking a screening. You can learn more about what happens to make you feel more at ease here: www.nhs.uk/tests-and-treatments/cervical-screening/

- Diameter: for most melanomas, at least six millimetres.
- Evolving: changing in size, shape or colour.

πŸ’œ We are in for a heatwave this bank holiday weekend with UV levels expected to be high. Although the warm weather is a treat, it’s important to remember to protect your skin:

- Spend time in the shade between 11am and 3pm
- Never burn
- Cover up with suitable clothing and sunglasses
- Use at least factor 30 sunscreen – make sure to use enough and re-apply frequently

We’d love to know – how are you enjoying the sunshine over the long weekend?

πŸ’œ Claire has been at Westway Veterinary Group in Consett delivering a workshop to their fantastic team who are working towards their Silver Better Health at Work Award County Durham.

The workshop's focus was on national screening programmes that are available to access and the signs and symptoms of cervical, breast, bowel and lung cancer.

Thanks for having Claire along! Another great workshop delivered to a local team who support awareness and health and wellbeing in the workplace.

Would you like to support your team? Book a workshop by contacting us on 0800 876 6887, [email protected], or find out more here: www.yourwellbeingservices.uk/cancer-awareness/
