Huge thank you to Lexi and Dan at Husqvarna for their support with our Confidence Collective initiative. Staff have been busy emptying their wardrobes of unwanted work attire to donate to this worthy cause.
Together with Keely Madgin at KM Coaching and Hiyed CIC we aim to provide those out of work with an outfit to boost confidence when going through interview processes, or up until their first pay cheque.
We've also been supported by staff at Amazon (Bowburn), Harvey Ward and others to get this project off the ground.
If you want to donate, or sponsor this initiative, please contact Andy Boyd on [email protected].

🍰 Freshly Made with Care at Lifeline Community Café 🍰

We thought we'd give a little shout-out to the amazing people behind the scenes who help make our café such a special place.

All of our cakes, scones, pastries and homemade meals are freshly prepared right here at the Hub. We're incredibly proud of the quality, care and effort that goes into everything we serve.

A special mention goes to our fantastic Senior Cook, Lisa, who works tirelessly creating the delicious cakes, traybakes, scones and homemade meals that our customers enjoy every day. Her baking and cooking are a real labour of love, and we're lucky to have her as part of the team.

Of course, Lisa couldn't do it alone! A huge thank you also goes to Stephen, Jenny and Loren, who help keep everything running smoothly, prepare and serve food, support our customers and always greet people with a smile.

And finally, a massive thank you to our wonderful volunteers. Whether they're helping in the kitchen, serving customers, clearing tables, washing dishes or simply taking the time to have a chat with someone who needs it, they are at the heart of what we do.

Together, they help create more than just a café – they create a welcoming community space where everyone is welcome and nobody has to face things alone.

Thank you to every member of our café team for your hard work, dedication and community spirit. ❤️

🌟 We’re Absolutely Delighted! 🌟

We are thrilled to share that Lifeline Community Action has been nominated for a BBC Radio Tees Make a Difference Award!

We have no idea who nominated us, but to whoever took the time to put our name forward – thank you. Your support and belief in our work means more than we can say.

The Lifeline Community Hub, which opened in September 2025, was created to provide a welcoming, inclusive space where people can access support, build connections and improve their wellbeing. Since opening, we have continued to grow, introducing new services and projects while attracting a wide range of partner organisations to deliver support from the Hub.

Together, we are building a holistic community support offer that operates with dignity, compassion and respect for anyone who needs help.

Over the last year alone, Lifeline Community Action supported 32,132 individuals across County Durham and Darlington, providing practical support, tackling poverty and isolation, improving wellbeing, and helping people through some of life's most challenging circumstances.

This nomination belongs to our incredible staff, volunteers, trustees, partners, funders and supporters who make our work possible every day.

Thank you for being part of our journey. 💙

🎉 Happy Birthday Christine! 🎉

Today we had the pleasure of celebrating a very special birthday in our Community Café.

Christine is one of our wonderful regular customers, and it is always a joy to see her, her husband, and their friends spending time together at the Hub. Their friendship, laughter and support for our café help make it the warm and welcoming place that it is.

We hope you have had a fantastic day, Christine, and that you've enjoyed celebrating with those around you. Thank you for being such a valued part of our Lifeline community.

Please join us in wishing Christine a very Happy Birthday! 🎂💙💛

Good News Story: A Fresh Start for Justyna’s Business – Trust Tidy Cleaning

In 2025, Justyna took a bold and inspiring step toward independence by launching her own cleaning business, supported by Livin Housing. With determination and a strong work ethic, she set out to build a better future for herself and her family —one client, one clean space, and one opportunity at a time. She focuses a lot of her time on supporting older and disabled residents in Newton Aycliffe who may struggle to manage household tasks.
Starting any new business can be challenging, and for Justyna, one of the biggest hurdles was having the right tools to grow. As her client base slowly expanded, she realised that to keep up with bookings, manage invoices, and market her services effectively, she needed a reliable laptop. Without it, responding to enquiries and organising her work became increasingly difficult, putting her business growth at risk.
Recognising her dedication and potential, Lifeline Community Action stepped in to support Justyna. They made an appeal on her behalf, highlighting not only her need but also her determination to succeed and build a sustainable business.
The response was nothing short of heartwarming.
Murtek, a company based on Aycliffe Business Park, answered the call with generosity and community spirit. They donated a brand-new laptop to Justyna, giving her exactly what she needed to take her business to the next level.
Justyna expressed her gratitude, saying the support has given her “a huge boost in confidence and the ability to grow something I’m really proud of.”
Stuart Murray added: "Justynas story really resonated with us. Having started and grown a business myself, I understand the challenges, determination and hard work that go into taking that first step. When Justyna shared her plans for her new venture, we were delighted to be able to help by donating a laptop to support her journey. She’s an incredibly hardworking lady with a fantastic attitude, and we wish her every success as she embarks on this exciting new chapter”.
This small act of kindness has made a big impact—not just on Justyna’s business, but on her future. It’s a powerful reminder of what can happen when organisations and communities come together to support local entrepreneurs.
Huge thank you to Stuart at Murtek for making this happen.
