At our monthly meeting, Nick Clyburn gave us a talk on “Miss Shillings or***ce and other things to that won the Battle of Britain”.

Not only was Air Chief Marshall Sir Hugh Dowding very important and between him and Beatrice Shilling definitely changed the outcome of the Battle of Britain.

Well what an eye opener. Nick took us through how the Spitfire and Hurricane Aircraft worked with their Merlin engines. How the dog fights above our skies with the addition of the or***ce Miss Shilling had designed and fitted to the aircraft, thus changing how aircraft could be handled in the skies without stalling. What an amazing women she was who also raced motorcycles! An absolutely fascinating talk
