A Kaleidoscope of Comedy and Pathos: Jim Cartwright’s Hit Play ‘Two’ Comes to New Radnor This September
NEW RADNOR, WALES – This autumn, the New Radnor Hub will transform its bar space into a bustling Northern pub as the Critical Mass Theatre Company presents a dynamic production of Jim Cartwright’s modern classic, ‘Two’. Running for two nights only on Saturday 26th September and Sunday 27th September 2026, this fast-moving, intimate performance offers audiences a front-row seat to an evening of sharp humor, raw human emotion, and dazzling theatricality.
Written by the award-winning playwright behind The Rise and Fall of Little Voice, Two is a celebrated tour de force. The production features acclaimed actors Victor Ptak and Helen Wingrave seamlessly portraying 14 different characters over the course of a single action-packed evening. From the central bickering Landlord and Landlady—who mask a deep, unhealed marital tragedy behind a veneer of quick-witted bar banter—to the colorful kaleidoscope of eccentric regulars who pass through their doors, Ptak and Wingrave deftly weave together moments of absolute hilarity with poignant drama.
To fully immerse the community in the atmosphere of a working-class local, the play will be performed entirely in the round inside the Hub Bar. This unique layout puts the audience right at the heart of the action, drawing them into a nightly melody of madness, melancholia, and merriment. With rapid-fire costume changes and instantly recognizable characters, Two promises an unforgettable evening that will make you laugh and cry in equal measure.
"We are thrilled to bring such a vibrant, high-energy piece of writing to the Hub," said a representative from Critical Mass Theatre Company. "Performing it in the round right inside the bar creates an intimate, fly-on-the-wall experience. Victor and Helen bring an incredible dynamic to these complex characters. It’s funny, it’s deeply moving, and it reminds us all that every person sitting at the local pub has an incredible story to tell".
This production is generously supported by the Arts Council Wales Night Out scheme.
