Well, where do I even begin?! ❤️

Carnival 2026 certainly wouldn’t have happened without our wonderful committee. Behind every event is an army of people giving up their evenings, weekends, sleep and, in some cases, their sanity! 😂

A huge thank you to every single person involved.

✨ Yaz (co-chair) – my fellow co-chair and partner in crime. You worked your socks off for months and completely smashed the organisation of the wheelbarrow race. I definitely couldn’t have done it without you.

✨ Beth (vice-chair) – our walking encyclopaedia of all things carnival! On the Friday of carnival set up, Beth knew absolutely everything. Her knowledge, calm nature and diplomatic approach kept us all on the straight and narrow.

✨ Heidi (treasurer) – our absolute powerhouse and the glue that held everything together. Heidi didn’t just keep things organised – she did it. From sleepless nights sorting card machines, to managing finances, to keeping the whole operation running smoothly all weekend, she was non-stop from start to finish. We genuinely couldn’t have done it without you!

✨ Ryan (secretary) – if it involved contracts, insurance or public liability, Ryan had it covered. Always on hand to sort the important behind-the-scenes details and keep everything compliant, calm and under control.

✨ Our procession team – Niki, Sonia and Nicky – the wonderful trio responsible for organising the procession. If you saw people running around outside the Memorial Hall looking busy, slightly stressed and armed with clipboards, it was probably them! Somehow, amidst the chaos, they made everything run perfectly.

✨ Our raffle team – Di, Sonia and Fiona – who sourced an incredible haul of raffle prizes from both local and national businesses and organised everything so seamlessly.

✨ Ann – our wonderful carnival café queen, who worked tirelessly behind the scenes and was one of the friendly faces serving everyone on the day.

✨ Our county fair team – Jane, Cheryl and Jo – who took charge of their section and absolutely ran with it. The amount of work that went into it was incredible, and it really showed.

✨ Della and Leah – our carnival queen dream team. Bringing back the traditional trailer was a brilliant idea, and our Queen and attendants looked absolutely fantastic.

✨ Kimi – who organised the decorated window competition and helped bring some fantastic displays to the town.

✨ Nikki, Georgia,Nath and Ben – our food and drink team, who worked hard behind the scenes to bring such a fantastic range of vendors to the field. The variety of food choices was a huge hit with everyone and went down an absolute treat!

✨ Johnathon – who single-handedly planned and organised all of our games. What a success they were!

✨ Tasha and Dawn – our tombola team, who sourced prizes, organised everything and had everything ready for the big day.

✨ Rachel, Bi and Tracey – the masterminds behind the evening entertainment. From the bands to the music and everything in between, they created an amazing evening for everyone.

To every committee member, volunteer, family member and friend who lent a hand, listened to us talk endlessly about carnival plans, and kept us fuelled with the occasional pint (or several!), thank you. ❤️

People see one day of fun, but what they don’t see are the months of planning, the countless messages, meetings, phone calls, early mornings and late nights that go into making it all happen.

You should all be incredibly proud of yourselves. Carnival 2026 over and out! 🎙️😜

‼️ we will post details of our AGM in due course.

Until then, thank you all once again. ❤️

As we continue to look back on another fantastic Presteigne Carnival, we have even more people and organisations to thank. ❤️

⭐ Firth Construction and Shaun Lapper – for allowing us to use one of their trucks to transport our beautiful Queen and attendants and for driving it in the parade.

⭐ Steve and Ian Potts – for being absolute heroes. From collecting equipment in their truck and helping with site management on the Friday, to somehow knowing exactly where everything needed to be and when on the Saturday and Sunday, you were both incredible. We honestly couldn’t have done it without you.

⭐ Presteigne Memorial Hall – for opening the hall so our parade entrants could escape the heat and seek some shade, and for opening the tuck shop for refreshments on the morning of the carnival.

⭐ Presteigne Bowling Club – for welcoming us every month and allowing us to hold our committee meetings there.

⭐ John Beddoes School – not only for loaning us equipment, but also for bringing along more than 20 enthusiastic students who painted signs, put up bunting, filled molehills, carried tables and helped with countless other jobs. You were all absolutely fantastic.

⭐ Sheep Music – for the loan of the PA system, gazebos and numerous other items, as well as sharing a wealth of knowledge and expertise with us.

⭐ Dave Mecke – the muscles behind getting all of the signs up (after Heidi volunteered him for the job, of course! 😄). Armed with a few tools and very little choice in the matter, Dave spent his time making sure the carnival signs appeared all around town. Thank you for being such a good sport and for all of your hard work.

⭐ Norton Show – for kindly loaning us even more equipment and helping to make the day such a success.

⭐ Presteigne Town Council – for the loan of gazebos and for supporting the carnival.

⭐ Presteigne Farmers’ Market – for kindly lending us gazebos that helped keep both volunteers and visitors sheltered throughout the day.

⭐ PBS – for providing the security fencing that helped the event run safely and smoothly.

⭐ Ollie Davies – for mowing the car park field and helping us prepare the site for the big day.

⭐ Joe Mecke-Davies – for carefully marking out the field and making sure everything was exactly where it needed to be.

⭐ Presteigne Scouts – for allowing us to use the Scout Hut. The Scout Hut exists because of the generosity and dedication of the local community, so it was wonderful to see it being used for exactly the purpose it was intended for: bringing people together and supporting a community event.

⭐ Richard Davies and Trevor Pritchard – Trevor, thank you for allowing us to borrow your bales, and Richard, thank you for kindly delivering and collecting them for us.

⭐ Curtis Ross and his wonderful team of road stewards – thank you for keeping everybody safe and helping the procession run smoothly.

⭐ Presteigne WI – for baking and providing the beautiful cakes for the Carnival Café and for volunteering your time to help out throughout the day.

⭐ John and Ruth Bray – for returning for another year to keep children and adults entertained with their amazing poi spinning, workshops and activities. Your enthusiasm and energy are infectious, and we are incredibly grateful that you continue to support Presteigne Carnival. You never charge us for your time and are always more than happy to join in and help make the day so special.

Presteigne Carnival simply would not be possible without the incredible support of our community. Every helping hand, every loaned item, every hour volunteered and every act of kindness helped to make the day what it was.

We apologise if we’ve accidentally missed anybody. It certainly wasn’t intentional, and we are grateful to every single person who played a part.

From all of us on the committee, thank you. ❤️🎉
