The Radnor Arms

The Radnor Arms The heart of New Radnor is back! After 9 years, our community-owned pub reopened in April 2025. We are a community-owned pub in New Radnor, Powys, Wales.

Managed by volunteers, we welcome all—walkers, bikers, muddy boots, and paws. Join us for a wide range of real ales, stouts, ciders, wines, and hot drinks. Since the closure of our pub in 2016, the village was left without a local gathering place. In response, members of the community formed an action group. Between 2022 and 2023, we received enough pledges from local residents to purchase the pro

perty when it came up for auction. An interim funder kindly stepped in to buy the pub at auction, holding it until we were able to realise those pledges. In 2024, we launched our community share offer alongside several grant applications. Thanks to overwhelming support, we successfully purchased the pub in July 2024. Over the following months, we carried out essential refurbishment work to bring the property up to safe standards. In April 2025, we proudly re-opened the pub on a permanent basis. The building is still undergoing further development. The old restaurant section had to be demolished, the upstairs accommodation remains inaccessible, and the rear of the pub is currently an active work site. Our story is still unfolding. We've had another cancellation for this weekend. The Irish Music Session penciled in for this Sunday is no longer going ahead as planned.

The event will be returning at some point in May, so keep an eye out for our May calendar for more information!

The pub will continue to be open this weekend following our normal opening hours.

✨ Join us for a glass of fizz this weekend, as we reach our first year of trading on a regular basis! ✨

Friday 17th, Saturday 18th & Sunday 19th April 🥂🍾🍻🍷

9 years and 2 months after it closed, the Radnor Arms reopened a year ago on the 18th April.

We’ve had amazing volunteers becoming bar pros (mostly), locals becoming “just one more drink” regulars, and a few moments of
“does this till button summon help?” energy... but somehow, it all works!

Most importantly, we’ve had laughter, community, new groups meeting, health checks, warm spaces, hand bell ringing, birthday parties, and the pub back at the heart of the village where it belongs.

A huge thank you to everyone: our shareholders, and the people (many who are shareholders) who have volunteered, helped, supported, served, cleared, chatted, cleaned, encouraged the committee, or just turned up looking thirsty, you are the reason the pub is so successful.

Join us this weekend for a glass of fizz to celebrate one year of community ownership, with business as usual, and here’s to new opportunities, even more fun, and slightly fewer mysteries behind the bar.

Very excited for our first visit tomorrow (Sat 11) from Miniyaki’s authentic Soul Food from 5 - 9 at the Radnor Arms. All meat is ethically sourced in the Wye Valley. You can order a meal and make an evening of it in the Radnor or you can pick up a takeaway to eat at home. Let’s give them a warm welcome from the community & valley.
