The WI is saddened to hear of the passing of Gloria Steinem, a pioneering feminist, journalist and campaigner whose work helped advance the rights and voices of women around the world.

Today, we remember her life, her legacy and her extraordinary contribution to the women’s movement with one of our favourite quotes:

“Women may be the one group that grows more radical with age.”

Something to look forward to!

🎪 Brockival is Coming! 🎉

The countdown is on, and plans are coming together for what promises to be a fantastic day as Brockival brings the carnival back to Brockenhurst!

Our wonderful team of volunteers has been working hard behind the scenes to create a day full of fun, entertainment and community spirit for everyone to enjoy.

Expect a colourful carnival procession, Gala in the Garden, live music, delicious food and drink, community stalls, family entertainment, children's activities and plenty more throughout the afternoon and evening.

There's still time to get involved too! Whether you'd like to take part in the procession, book a stall, volunteer, or support the event through sponsorship, we'd love to hear from you.

A huge thank you to everyone who has already signed up and to our growing number of supporters. Together, we're bringing back a wonderful village tradition and creating something really special for Brockenhurst.

... and finally a HUGE well done and thank you to the knowledgeable Judges, the Stewards, headed by the lovely Lynne, the Committee and the Sales table organised by the wonderful Sonia & her helpers, the talented ladies providing home made crafts to sell, plus all the entrants & visitors! 🌟👏🐝

You all contributed to a fantastically successful event, with the Sales table outperforming previous years! Watch this space for the total £'s raised. 💸💷

The Barton Bees WI last entry was in the 'Trip to the Theatre' Craft Co-Op class & didn't our ladies do well?! 🌟🎭
Lorraine, Amanda & Carol each did a component & all created truly skillful elements to an overall winner! 🥇

Stiff competition came in the form of Beauty & The Beast and Alice in Wonderland, along with Cats, Paddington, Moulin Rouge & Mary Poppins. Really creative displays all round 👏

the 'Art - Under Cover' category and what talented ladies took up the challenge!🎨🖌🖼

'To The Lighthouse' by Virginia Woolfe and
'Born Free' by Joy Adamson were the choices of Barton Bees WI Amanda & Carol which we're sure you will agree, are truly stunning. Well done ladies 👏 🐝
