Milford Pre School Plus

Milford Pre School Plus We are a Pre School, Accredited Forest School, After School and Holiday club, with a huge allotment. This includes a free flow garden area.

We run from a large play space, especially designed for the needs of all our children. The garden gate also leads out to our huge allotment, playground where we ride balance bikes, field with climbing and balancing equipment and our amazing Forest School area that we share with the school. We have good links with the school enabling a smooth transition. We hold events such as gardening, Forest Sch

ool, Mothers Day and pancake sessions. We are successful winners at the Lymington carnival and take part in Milford Christmas trees on the green. We also fundraise for new equipment through Easter Egg Hunts and our Christmas Fair. Plenty for your child and your family to become totally involved in our wonderful Pre School, After School and Holiday clubs οΏ½

How brilliant is our bespoke new water play area?! It was built and designed by the amazing Andy and it looks and feels so much like being at the beach!
The children are going to love it, it comes with a sail for a shade, a step, two water trays and a water run, with lots of water play equipment.
The materials were purchased from our fundraising, all our lovely events such as the Christmas Fair and the Easter Egg Hunt have contributed to it.

Up at Forest School today, the children discovered a huge great diving beetle lurking in a net from pond dipping! We definitely have not identified one of those before! The children matched it to the identification sheet as it was the largest beetle on the sheet! We are so careful to observe it before carefully returning it, where we spotted another-Amazing!
The children also used the butterfly identification sheet to match a Comma Butterfly who was sunning her wings on the bramble. We used our indentifcation sheet given to us by Sarah Wilder Lymington 😍
So wonderful to see new species that we have not seen before! πŸͺ²πŸ¦‹πŸ˜

This week, the children have been reliving their experiences of exploring rock pools with our very own pre school rock pool out on the decking! The children have loved sharing all the creatures that live in a rock pool and some sea life too.
We have also been using sand to make some different textured sand play dough, making marks with some shells that were collected from Lepe. We have also been creating some beautiful sand art pictures with various coloured sand. So much language, physical skills, sharing and turn taking as well as exploring new activities this week! πŸοΈπŸ¦€πŸšπŸ˜

Today we celebrated β€œButterfly Awareness and Education Day β€œ that is celebrated on Saturday.
We remembered back to when we let our Painted Lady butterflies go free by looking at photos.
We also spot some of the 59 species we have in the UK at Forest School and on walks to the park, beside all the wild flower patches. The children are so good at spotting them and naming some, such as the Peacock, Orange Tip and Painted ladies. We discus habitats and where we might see some.
Hopefully they will be able to spot some over the weekend! πŸ¦‹πŸ˜

This week, the children have been experimenting with various textures to create their favourite ice cream pictures! They have used pipettes and watered down paint onto cotton wool pads, they have used puffy paint with glue and shaving foam and watercolour paints.
The children have used their physical skills creating ice creams and toppings with the ice cream play dough and had fun in the ice cream parlour with their friends, talking about toppings, sauces and cornets or cups!
Lots of fun, communication, sharing and turn taking and physical together! 🍦🍨😍

The children have been closely watching our strawberry patch during our daily visits to our allotment! So they were thrilled to see that we have lots of lovely red strawberries, ripe for picking this week!
We talk about picking only the red ones and leaving the squashed ones for the bird to enjoy to. We also pick and leave the stem intact on the plant.
We had so many that lots of the children were able to pick one and eat one from the plant, delicious!
We have made some very tasty scones for us all to share at snack time too, along with butter and cream! The best snack, homegrown and homemade! πŸ“πŸ“πŸ˜ RHS Campaign for School Gardening

From September 2026, we’ll be extending our opening hours until 5:45pm for children aged 3 and 4 who will be starting school in September 2027.

May half term fun!
We had a fun packed 4 days of Holiday Club. The children especially enjoyed our tennis sessions with Coach Dan from Milford Tennis Club. We also had two sessions at Forest School, making pizza bagels and Hapa Zome flags and had lots of fun baking yummy treats for our Mad Hatter's tea party. πŸŽΎπŸ°πŸ§πŸ«–β˜•οΈ
