Created in memory of Oliver Buchanan, a boy like no other, Oliver’s Dragons supports the well-being of children in our community of Marple, Greater Manchester.

A brand new charity for Marple where kids support kids. Our unique, magical, adored Oliver loved this community nearly as much as he loved dragons. When he died in 2023 from a brain tumour, his family and friends resolved to create a fund that would help spread joy and happiness to local children. Oliver's Dragons exists to help in two ways. Firstly, we want to help fund leisure and recreational facilities for children in our area and secondly, we will provide grants to families where a child is closely impacted by cancer. We intend to do this by organising fun family-oriented community events throughout the year.

Oliver's Dragons' next grant window is now open for projects in our area that support children's wellbeing.

We're moving to two grant rounds each year so that we can focus on reaching the most impactful and sustainable initiatives. All the money we give out in our community is raised by our community - a beautiful circle of kindness.

🎅 🎅 🎅 Calling all local schools - Santa Dash prizes up for grabs!

If you are registering for the Marple Santa Dash you'll notice an optional question asking which local school you are representing.

This year, Oliver's Dragons are awarding trophies for:

👩‍🏫 Fastest teacher (Strava evidence required!),
🏃‍♂️ Primary school with the most runners (pro-rated),
💵 £150 award to a primary PTA project, for the most sponsorship raised per runner

The whole family can take part in the Marple Santa Dash! 🎅 👨‍👩‍👧 👨‍👨‍👦‍👦 🍼 🐾

We have three sizes of suits available for entrants - age 5-9 for the littlies, age 9-12 for the inbetweeners and adult suits for the bigger kids and grown ups

You are welcome to bring kids in prams and pushchairs with Oliver's Dragons awarding a prize for the best decorated pram.

Well behaved dashing dogs on short leads can also join in - watch this space for a special prize for festive furry friends.

We’re beyond excited to help bring the Santa Dash back to Marple again!

Absolute scenes at The Railway Marple last night as Dragonfest kept a packed crowd entertained. Thanks so much to all the bands, and the pub for helping us raise nearly £600.
