WOW 🤩 WOW 🤩 WoW 🤩 the volunteers are still catching their breath after yesterday’s ( 2nd Sept) birthday celebrations .
An amazing time was had by all and more pictures to follow in the coming days.
A BIG thank you must go to the amazing Volunteers,
Debbie & Emma from Asda Ipswich & Stowmarket , Kim @ Tesco Copdock , Julia @ Morrrions, Ipswich, Jenny & Tom for their generous donations. Gary @ Asda Ipswich for his help with the photo cake. Chelsea Francis for bringing the glam to the afternoon and for entertaining us. Who knew we had so many dancing queens ‘ in the room !

New month begins and for many this marks the start of a new year.

Tomorrow ( Wednesday 2nd September ) we will be celebrating our 5th Chinwag birthday. From small acorns we have flourished into a well organised, welcoming and caring group 🥰 who believe ‘ the smallest gesture can be the biggest gift’ This can be a good morning , a friendly smile or a cup of tea being made for them.

None of this is possible without our amazing team of volunteers who give their time each month. 🙏👏.
We would also like to remember one volunteer who is no longer with us but was affectionately known as Mr Needham Market ☹️

Unfortunately - this is not a free event so you will need to buy your own drink. HOWEVER we will be handing out loyalty cards and when you have bought 5 drinks at the Pop in Chinwag you will get one free.

Does time fly ✈️🤔

6 years ago 5 volunteers ( Tracey, Lesley, Dave, Mandy & Jackie) got together after the closure of Age UK Suffolk ( AUKS) and decided to carry on the good work that AUKS had started in September 2019 with the Needham Chinwag.

Lots of ideas discussed, policies written, bank account opened and logo and brand identified.
2021 started with an online cuppa & chat, July was our first pop in and September 2021 our official launch with entertainment from Chelsea Francis Richer and the mayor of Needham Market - Jo Lea marking the occasion with the cutting of the cake.

5 years later the group is going from strength to strength both in numbers, volunteers and reputations. Several of the chinwaggers who we met in September 2021 are still coming along today on the first Wednesday of the month.

At the beginning we were given this comment
‘The group is much more than coffee & cake ‘
We can definitely agree with that !!
